Walter let out a long whistle as if to contradict them and the pair exchanged a glance, put their hands to their guns and began to advance warily in his direction. Walter turned on the cassette player and megaphone, then quickly slid away to the side, to get around them. He moved through the bushes in the direction of their car where he would find Carpetti waiting for him. When the gunmen arrived near the head of the trail, the sharp sound of a storm of gunfire echoed suddenly for a few seconds in the clearing.
