Chapter2: Blackout.

Maya's mind replayed the stranger's gaze and captivating smile, she was in the moment, and now he was gone. She didn't even know his last name and curiously got the better of her. She looked everywhere for him. At the bar, in the crowd dodging servers carrying trays of drinks and food, yet no sign of him. She felt unease as she made her way to the dance floor, but he wasn't there either. She felt it was a dream. She decided to help herself with a drink, hoping to clear her head. She ordered a glass of wine and took a sip, hoping to distract herself from these thoughts. She kept drinking. One glass turned to two, and two turned to three. She soon found herself on the dance floor moving to the rhythm. Maya was completely lost in the music, letting the beat taking over her body. As the nights wore on, she was having more and more fun. She felt so carefree for the first time in weeks. As the music intensified, Maya found herself a new partner. They danced together in sync. She forgot everything and enjoyed the moment. Towards the end of the music, she turned to leave. Her legs froze, and her eyes seemed to have caught the attention of something. Her eyes were intently fixed on someone, the tall, dark-haired guy standing in the hallway. Her vision began to blur, and the room seemed to spin. The stranger was the last thing she saw before she blacked out. As she lay there, people tried to help her up, but she couldn't respond. Her eyelids seemed heavy. ********************* Maya woke up the next morning to the sound of the alarm. Her mind foggy and her head pounding. She realized that she was on her own bed. As she tried to sit up, she felt weak and the rays from the sun piercing her window made her squint. As she managed to sit, she felt a sharp pain shoot through het head and the memories of last night began playing in her head. When she was almost lost in thought, her phone rang, bringing her back to her consciousness. It was her best friend, Eve. "Wakey, wakey! How'd yesterday go?" Eve asked with a bubbly voice. For a moment, Maya was speechless and reluctant, unsure of what to reveal. She took a deep breath "I must have drunk too much and fainted at the reception. A friend brought me home". She finally spoke out. "Wait, what? Are you okay now?" Eve asked curiously. "Eve, it's been a weird night" she explained. "It was super weird.." she described the stranger to her friend, but it sounded so absurd. "We were having fun, everything was going smoothly until we kissed, then next thing I remember was a black out." Eve laughed, "You're just too dramatic Maya, you probably drank too much." "I'm way too serious Eve, and it feels strange cos i think we made out, and then he was nowhere to be seen at the reception.." "Okay, that's creepy." Eve's voice turned serious. The more she explained, the crazier it got. At one point, Eve thought she had lost her mind. It felt like a dream. But Eve thought she must have been drunk that night. "Anyway, I got an e-mail from another client wanting us to plan their wedding, and it's going to be a huge one!" Eve said feeling excited. "That's great!" she exclaimed. "I'll pick you up later this afternoon" Eve said, hanging up. Maya sat on the bed and began to wonder... her head replaying the memories of last night's wedding reception. The way he touched her, the way he kissed her, the way he fondled her breasts, she felt aroused. As she got lost, she started touching herself. She closed her eyes, her hands began to wander all over her curves and v****a. She was already wet. She started moaning. The memories were so fresh. Her fingers sent sensations down her spine and, before she realized it, the bed was wet. "f**k!" she said. She then made her way into the bathroom to have a hot water bath to calm her nerves. Her phone buzzed with text messages. She wondered who that was. Maya came out of the bathroom stretching. She felt so good after the stretch and headed straight to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. Just then, her phone buzzed again. She glanced through the messages. It read "Are you okay now?" It was an unknown number. "Please who?" She texted back. "It's Billy. We met at the wedding. I'm the one who brought you home when you fainted." Why's he texting me now? Maya thought. " Oh my! Hey Billy, thanks for checking in. I'm sorry I caused you a little trouble that night. I'm better now." She replied. His text popped I again. "That's great! i was a bit worried so i decided to check on you. Do you mind telling me what happened? You just collapsed at the dance floor." Maya felt unease, but then her fingers ran over the keyboard "um... I think I must have drunk too much and maybe, I was stressed. Wedding planning can be so exhausting." "I can imagine!" Billy sent a laughing emoji. Their conversation flowed easily and Maya talked about work and life. "Want to grab a coffee sometime?" He asked. Maya smiled, feeling a spark of connection. Maybe it isn't bad to get along. She hasn't really made friends yet since she settled in the country. But she hesitated for a moment, unsure if she'd actually meet up with Billy. "Sure I'd love to." She quickly replied, sending the text with a smirk. "You call the shots" he sent with a smile emoji, trying to be a gentleman. "I'm still undecided yet," Maya explained. "I've got other wedding plans to work on. When I'm less busy I'll put you through. How about tomorrow?" She asked. "Tomorrow it is then." They both laughed over texts and Maya felt alive. The burnt smell of the toaster brought her back to reality. "Oh s**t!" She screamed. With the glass of smoothie in her hand, she reached for her music box and her favorite song started playing from her Spotify playlist. She felt alive at that moment.
