The ice-cold concrete floor only amplified my shivering. I pulled my knees to my chest where I lay in the corner of my cell, chin bleeding where it had met the floor when Amry shoved me into the kennel. When I dozed, I dreamed of Kinley sitting on the edge of my bed, holding an ice pack to my eye, Kat bringing me a bowl of tomato soup, Todd sketching any scene I described. The mirages never lasted long, vanishing when I woke up crying only to drift again.
