I sit alone on the bed, looking around and repeating the whole thing in my mind that I went through. The betrayal, the k********g, the parcel, Jasmine, Marcel, Alexei and now this man.
Why the hell is everyone after me? I have known from the start that Jasmine isn't my mother because of the way she has always treated me. Anyone can tell that I'm not her daughter, since not a single aspect of my appearance matches hers.
I lean back on the bed and close my eyes. And sigh tiredly.
Who am I? Who are my parents? Why me all the time? Why after me? I don't even know what to believe and what to not anymore because everything is just so mysterious and puzzle that I can't think straight anymore. What happened to grandma and the man who rescued me from my stepfather? Did they know where I am? Do they know what is happening to me? Are they looking for me?
I didn't realize when I drifted to sleep. But for the first time in a long time, I finally feel safe and sound. Maybe... just maybe this time I'm not in the wrong hands.
After hours, I finally woke up when I felt someone shake my shoulder gently. I stirred and slowly opened my eyes and saw the same man who brought me here.
"How are you, little girl" He asked gently and I feel like a father is caring for his daughter, who is worried for her. I can see the love and care in his eyes that only a father can show.
I keep looking at him with half-open eyes because I'm so sleepy. I just look at him with longing. I wish he could be my father, the one who could hold me and tell me everything will be fine, that it's just a dream and everything will be normal when I wake up.
I didn't speak, nor did he ask me to say anything. He knows that I needed the time, I needed the moment. I didn't know that there were tears welling up in my eyes, but for the first time, I don't care. I feel like I can open up in front of him without fear of being judged. He cupped my face in his hands and my tears fell on his palm, but I didn't care because right now I needed someone to rely on. I subconsciously leaned on his palm and closed my eyes.
""That's okay. Take your time. No one is gonna hurt you on my watch," he said softly as he wiped my tears.
"We will talk whenever you are ready. Just know that I'm right here and I'm not going anywhere" he continue as he caress my cheeks just like a father.
I nodded at him, keeping my eyes closed, telling myself that everything is going to be fine. I will be fine. I don't have to be afraid anymore. No one is going to hurt me on his watch, as he promised.
After a while, I finally open my eyes, which are now puffy and red from tears. I look at him for reassurance that everything will be fine, and as if reading my thoughts, he nodded with a small yet gentle smile.
"I'm fine," I said softly as I looked at him. "You can ask me whatever you want," I continued.
He smiles and ruffles my hair gently. "You are fine, that's all I asked for. We have all the time for talks. I want you to feel completely and utterly fine first. But I have to ask you something," he said, and I can tell he's struggling with the battle inside his head whether to ask or not, so I nodded.
"Do you know who your parents are?" he asked softly, and I shook my head.
"No, I don't know," I said softly as I looked at my hands and fidgeted with my fingers.
He gently lifted my head up with his fingers. "Do you trust me, Hazel?"
"I... I do," I whispered quietly.
"Then I promised you that I will help you find your parents. No matter what it takes and how much it asks in return, but I won't back down until you're in your parents' arms," he said with a smile.
"What is your name?" I asked softly.
"I'm Vasileios," he said with a smile.
"Visalos... What?" I said, confused, because his name is hard to pronounce, which made him burst into a fit of laughter.
"You can call me Vas," he said, still laughing, and for the first time in a long time, I smiled as well.
"Let's go. I want to take you somewhere safe and warm so you can relax without fear and without having to watch over your shoulder. "I want to give you a warm and friendly home where you can relax until I find your parents," he said softly, and I smiled at him. For some reason, I trust this guy with my whole heart and my life.
After that, he led me out of the room, and now I properly take a look around. It's a warehouse. He is holding my hand as he leads me out of here. There are so many men in black suits. surrounding the whole warehouse. I noticed my hand look so small, soft and fragile in his rough, big hands. Almost my whole hand is covered in his hand.
He led me towards a Bugatti La Voiture Noire and my eyes widened with surprise. My eyes were about to fall out of their sockets and I shook my head gently, feeling embarrassed. I looked around to make sure no one saw the surprise on my face.
The man in the black suit, probably one of his men, bowed to him and opened the car door for us. Vas helped me inside, fastened my seat belt, and then joined me inside. We drove away to the unknown—well, for me it's unknown, but he knows exactly where he's taking me.
I look out of the window admiring the night view as I rest my head back.
As we were driving, I noticed the cars of his men surrounding our car to make sure no one hurt us.
I closed my eyes and drifted back to sleep, and for the first time, my sleep was peaceful, without fear of being late and getting punished. I sighed softly in my sleep.
Even though I'm sleeping, one thing is making me confused: the way he talked about my parents and the way he said he would find them for me. It's like he knows something about my parents, like he knows who they are. The way he looked at me, it's as if he knows someone who looks like me, or that I look like them.
Well, I have all the time to think about this, but right now my sleep is important. I need to recharge my energy for whatever life throws at me.
