The strangers words keep ringing in my head. Flashback The stranger's laughter echoed through the clock tower, the silver mask glinting as he stepped forward. "You think she's here? Oh, I'm one step ahead." My eyes narrowed, my grip on Dominic's arm tightening. "Where is she?" The stranger's smile grew wider. "Safe. For now. But you won't find her unless you play along." The clock tower's shadows seemed to deepen, the air thickening with tension. My eyes flashed, my mind racing with possibilities. "What's the game?" I growled. The stranger's mask glinted. "You know what I want. The business. Give it to me, and I'll tell you where she is." My expression was a mask of stone. "I don't have it." The stranger's laughter was a cold, mirthless sound. "Don't lie to me. I know I sent her away, somewhere you'll never find her. She's in grave danger, and it's all because of you." My heart skipped a beat, my grip on Dominic's arm crushing. "What have you done?" The stranger's smile was a cruel curve. "I've given her a chance to survive. But you need to cooperate. The package. Give it to me, and I'll tell you where she is." My eyes flashed, my mind racing with fear. "You're lying." The stranger shrugged. "Maybe. But are you willing to take that risk?" The clock tower's shadows seemed to close in, the air thick with tension. My eyes locked on the stranger's, a silent battle of wills. Suddenly, my phone buzzed. I answered, my heart pounding in my chest. "Help me," a voice whispered. The line went dead, the clock tower's bells tolling in the silence. My eyes widened, my grip on the phone crushing. "It's too late," the stranger said, his voice dripping with satisfaction. "The clock is ticking. You have one hour to decide." The stranger turned, disappearing into the shadows. I was left standing, my world crumbling around me. "Flashback ends" Dominic's voice was a whisper in my ear. "What do we do?" My eyes flashed, my jaw clenched. "We find her. We tear the city apart if we have to." The clock tower's shadows seemed to darken, the night closing in around us. My heart pounded, my mind racing with fear. "Let's move," I growled, my voice barely human. The night seemed to swallow us whole, the clock tower's bells tolling in the distance. My world had narrowed to one goal: finding her. As we emerged into the night, the city stretched out before us, a maze of shadows and danger. My eyes locked on the horizon, my heart pounding in my chest. "She's out there," I whispered. "And we're going to find her." The night seemed to vibrate with tension, the city holding its breath. My eyes flashed, my grip on reality tenuous at best. "Let's go," I growled, my voice a promise of violence. The city seemed to stir, the shadows shifting as we vanished into the night. The clock was ticking, and the game was on. I call my men and sent my men fanning out across the city, their faces set in grim determination. "Find her," I growled, my voice low and urgent. "Tear the city apart if you have to." Dominic nodded, his eyes flashing with understanding. "We'll check the safe houses, the usual haunts. We'll leave no stone unturned." I nodded, my jaw clenched. "Vincenzo, Matteo, take the east side. Stefano, Nevan, cover the west. Dominic, you're with me. We'll take the north." The group dispersed, their movements swift and silent. I turned to Dominic, my eyes locked on his. "We'll find her," I said, my voice cold. "No matter what it takes." The city seemed to blur around us as we sped through the streets, my eyes scanning the crowds for a glimpse of her. Every minute ticked by like an eternity, the clock in my head counting down to disaster. We hit the streets, questioning passersby, checking alleyways, pounding on doors. Every "no" felt like a punch to the gut, every empty room a fresh hell. My phone buzzed, a message from Vincenzo. "Nothing on the east side. Checking with snitches." I growled, my fingers tightening around the phone. Where was she? The night wore on, the city a maze of shadows and lies. I felt like I was drowning in it, the weight of my failures crushing me. Suddenly, my phone buzzed again. Matteo's voice was tight with tension. "Dad, we got something. Meet us at the old warehouse on 5th and Main." I spun to Dominic, my eyes flashing. "We've got a lead." The warehouse loomed before us, its walls scarred and graffiti-tagged. I pushed open the door, my eyes scanning the dim interior. Matteo and Vincenzo stood frozen, their eyes fixed on a figure slumped against the wall. My heart skipped a beat as I saw the dark hair, the slender form. "Hazel," I whispered, my voice barely audible. But as I approached, she looked up, her eyes flashing with a fierce light. "It's not her," I realized, my heart sinking. The woman shook her head, her voice low and husky. "I don't know what you're talking about. But I can tell you this: she's in a world of trouble. And you're running out of time." The words hit me like a slap, my eyes locked on hers. "What do you know?" The woman smiled, a cruel curve of her lips. "Let's just say... I've seen the future. And it's not looking good for her." My grip on reality slipped, my vision blurring with rage. I took a step forward, my voice low and deadly. "Tell me where she is." The woman's smile grew wider, her eyes glinting with a mad light. "Oh, I'll tell you. But you'll have to pay the price." The air seemed to vibrate with tension, my heart pounding in my chest. The clock was ticking, and I was running out of options. Marcel's POV I watched the scene unfold from the shadows, a smile spreading across my face. The great Lorenzo, tearing the city apart for the girl. How...predictable. I turned to Hazel, who was watching the chaos with a mix of fear and exhaustion. She looked up at me, her eyes searching for reassurance. "Time to get you safe," I said, my voice low and soothing. "We've got a place where you can lay low till things blow over." Hazel nodded, her eyes trusting. "Thank you, Marcel. I don't know what I'd do without you." I smiled, my expression warm. "That's what I'm here for. Let's move." I led her through the winding streets, the city a blur of lights and sounds around us. Hazel walked close beside me, her footsteps light and uncertain. As we walked, I spoke in a low, calming voice. "We'll get you out of Paris, maybe even out of the country if that's what you want. But first, we need to get you safe." Hazel nodded, her eyes fixed on the pavement. "Anything. Just please, get me away from Jasmine." I nodded, my eyes scanning the rooftops. "We're almost there. Just a bit farther." The alleyway opened up into a small, secluded courtyard. I led Hazel to a nondescript door, hidden behind a tangle of vines. "Here," I said, my voice soft. "You'll be safe here. I'll get some food, some clothes, and we'll figure out the next move." Hazel nodded, her eyes wide with relief. "Thank you, Marcel. Really." I smiled, my expression warm. "No problem, kid. I'll be back soon." I slipped out into the night, the door locking softly behind me. The courtyard was quiet, the shadows deep and still. I pulled out my phone, dialling a number from memory. "Get the package secured," I said, my voice low. "We'll move on my signal." The voice on the other end was smooth, detached. "And the girl?" I smiled, my eyes glinting in the dark. "She's exactly where I want her." I ended the call, my eyes fixed on the door. Hazel thought she was safe. But she was just a pawn, a piece in a game she couldn't begin to understand. The night seemed to stretch out before me, full of possibilities. And Hazel, poor Hazel, was just a means to an end. I turned, vanishing into the shadows, the city swallowing me whole. The game was on, and Hazel was just a player. As I walked away, the sound of distant music and laughter drifted through the air, a reminder that in this city, nothing was as it seemed. And I was the one pulling the strings. The courtyard was quiet, the only sound the soft rustle of leaves in the breeze. Hazel waited, unaware of the danger closing in around her. And I smiled, my eyes fixed on the door, my heart cold and calculating. The night was young, and the game was just beginning
