The first was like a wave of tsunami after tsunami. Werewolves charged through our line. Claws met claws. Teeth met teeth. Blood sprayed. Wolves screamed.
I shifted mid leap. My wolf-body scorched of is crown-flesh for the power parted between Rylan and me. We fought side by side. Moved as a single being, with two bodies. The bond allowed us to anticipate one another. Share strength. Cover weaknesses.
A Lycan lunged at my throat. Rylan intercepted. Tore into its side. I wheeled and a second man approaching his back. Ripped. Tore. Killed.
The wolves that arrived were fresh from the north. Hundreds of them responding to our call. They hit the Lycan flanks. Turned the tide slightly. But we were still outnumbered. Still overwhelmed.
"Fall back!" Jax shouted.
