BURIALS AND BROKEN PIECES

Three days. That's all the time we had. Three days to bury the dead, heal the maimed and prepare for war with an enemy we just could not beat.
We started with the burials. Five Valkyries. Twelve wolves. Eight allied fighters. All of them dead because they stood with us. All of them gone.
Scarlet organized the ceremony. Simple. Respectful. Words spoken over each grave. Names remembered. Sacrifices honored.
Marcus got a grave too. Rylan insisted. Some wolves objected. Said traitors didn't deserve burial. Was that he should be left for scavengers.
But Kai spoke up. "He saved me. That matters."
