I woke to silence. The type of strange that felt wrong amidst all the entropy. Something cold pressed against my head. Metal. The gas station wall. The light of day filtering through dirty windows cast everything in shades of gray.
The crown sat on my head. No longer burning. Not attempting to eat me up anymore. It felt light. Natural. As if it had never been anywhere else.
