The sun rose, gray and cold, above the warehouse district. Vacant buildings loomed like corpses reaching into the sky. Broken windows. Rusted metal. The ideal place to stash a facility. The perfect place for a trap.
Three blocks away we crouched on a rooftop. Ash beside me. Four wolves fanned out for better angles. All of us monitoring the target building.
"Twenty guards visible," Ash whispered. "Probably more inside. Mix of wolves and humans. All armed. All alert."
I peered through binoculars at the warehouse. Three stories. Multiple exits. Guards were positioned at every approach. Marcus wasn't taking chances.
