Chapter Seven Over an hour later, Shelly stepped off the bus looking down at the piece of paper that might determine her future. High-rise buildings commanded the smoggy skies. Shelly waved her hand in her face, deflecting the smoke from the bus guzzling off. She looked around at the pristine clean streets and gated trees lining the sidewalk. Shelly dug into her bag and put on a baseball cap. She let it frame her face a little, not wanting to be noticed for a change. She moseyed into the office and saw white walls and caught a fresh scent of pumpkin spice from candles and floral decorations.
