Darius POV
“Start from the beginning.” My voice didn’t rise.
The healer across from me stiffened anyway. His hands tightened slightly around the scroll he held.
“I already gave you the initial report, Alpha..”
“I said start from the beginning.”
Silence. Then a slow inhale.
He unrolled the parchment.
“The first examination was conducted six weeks ago,” he began. “At that time, Lady Seraphine claimed early signs of pregnancy, fatigue, nausea, sensitivity..”
“Symptoms can be faked.”
The words came flat.
He paused.
Then nodded once.
“Yes.”
“Continue.”
“The physical indicators were… inconclusive.”
“Inconclusive,” I repeated.
My fingers tapped once against the desk.
“Meaning?”
“Meaning there was no clear confirmation.”
My jaw tightened.
“And yet it was announced.”
A beat.
