Kaelira’s POV I didn’t sleep. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw it again..fire. A man on his knees. And a truth I couldn’t prove. I pushed the blanket off and sat up, jaw tight, fingers pressing into my temple. “Your father begged…” I exhaled sharply. “No.” Not like that. Something was wrong. Not just with what he said..
