Anyone would walk out from that moment --- when you see the one you love with someone else that is not you. But Elizabeth did not do that. Instead, she did not let her emotions overwhelm her. She grabbed the bottle of wine, the glass, and her purse so that she could approach the table of Cross and the woman he was with.
“I still can’t believe that you are actually alive,” Cross said emotionally while his eyes were still fixated on Hanna. “I can’t wait to pay for the time I was not there for you.”
These were the first words Elizabeth heard when she finally came to the table. She chose to turn her back on them so Cross would not see her. Opening the bottle of wine, she poured her wineglass and intently eavesdropped on the conversation behind her.
