“What happened here?” Mark asked and helped Elizabeth collect all of the papers from the floor.
“Oh, I’m so sorry, sir. The air conditioner unit was a little bit windy, so when I was using the xerox machine, they all flew away,” Elizabeth tried to explain to escape from embarrassment.
Mark chuckled and shook his head. His eyes accidentally drifted outside where he could see Cross’ glares at him. His smile almost faded but did not let it completely fade. He turned to Elizabeth, who was sweating because of her fidget. He raised his thumb to wipe away her sweat, making her stop and look at him.
“Don’t be too stressed out at work, okay? I am going to take care of you as my secretary. I respect your working ethic, Ms. Gonzaga,” he said softly, and winked at her.
