They married the following spring. It wasn't a grand wedding. They didn't need one. Their closest friends were there. Their families were there. Lily cried before the ceremony even began. Margaret cried throughout it. Daniel's father was gone, but Daniel carried a small photograph of him in his pocket. When Emma walked down the aisle, Daniel looked at her as if he were seeing her for the first time. She smiled. He smiled back. When it was time for their vows, Daniel took her hands. "Eight years ago, I thought I had lost you." Emma's eyes filled with tears. "I spent eight years believing you had forgotten me." "I never did." "I know." He smiled. "Life took us somewhere else." Emma nodded. "But somehow, it brought us back." Daniel squeezed her hands. "I choose you." Emma smiled. "I choose you too." They kissed. Their friends applauded. Lily shouted: "Finally!" Everyone laughed. For once, the tears were happy ones. "Life took us somewhere else." Emma nodded. "But somehow, it brought us back." Daniel squeezed her hands. "I choose you." Emma smiled.
