KAIA’S POV Jace stepped into the room slowly, like he wasn’t sure if he was welcome. His eyes met Leander's for only a second before he looked away, tension written all over him. “Hey, man," he said in a low and rough voice. Leander gave him a tired smile. “Hey.” The silence that followed was all sorts of things—uncomfortable, heavy, awkward. Everything unpleasant you could possibly think of. Jace stood by the door for a moment longer, then finally walked in and sat down in the chair across from me.
