KAIA’S POV When Leander didn’t answer right away, Dylan and I exchanged a look. Dylan shifted awkwardly, glancing around like he wanted to disappear. Then he pointed behind him and mumbled, “Uh… I’ll just be over there.” “Don’t go too far!” I called after him. “I won’t!” he shouted back, already turning away and heading toward the edge of the trees. When I turned back, Leander was still quiet. His gaze was distant, like his mind was somewhere else entirely. I took a breath and stepped closer, trying to read his expression. “Leander, are you okay?” I asked softly. He blinked, as if coming back to himself. “I’m fine,” he said quickly, nodding.
