KAIA'S POV
I couldn’t sit still.
Back and forth I paced across my room, my phone pressed tightly to my ear as Elias spoke on the other end. The sound of the rain outside only made the tension worse.
“I don't understand. Why would Alpha Gareth do something like that?” Elias said. His voice was low but serious. “I couldn't believe my ears when Jace came to me with the news."
I stopped and stared out the window, watching the storm beat against the glass. My fingers clenched around the phone. “I don't know. We went out looking for him, Elias,” I said, my voice quiet. “We searched all through the East Woods… but there were no signs of Silver. No scent, no tracks. It’s like he never even went that way.”
