Chapter 3: Lies Untold
Maddie's POV:
"Hey girls, my family is coming to town and my dad rented this private resort for today until Monday morning. He asked me if you two wanna join us and I said yes." I said to Eli and Azzy with a huge grin on my face.
Eli laughed. "You're really funny Maddie. It would have been nice if you informed us first before saying yes but I guess I'll just have to be used to you and your funny ways."
"I wouldn't let you reject me anyway so I already said yes. So, pack your things because someone will come here to get our stuffs. We'll go to the resort right after the Department's party but you can join us later since you have a date, Azzy." I said and sat on her bed. "Stop napping! We need to get you ready." I bugged Azzy.
"Hmm." She moaned and stretch her arms.
She's really easy to wake up. Well, Azzy is the most uncomplicated person I know. While she's taking a shower, Eli and I started getting dressed for the party. In a party full of fashion design students, of course one's outfit would be the most important part in getting ready. But I have my own style so, I don't care about what they would say about me.
"Damn girl, you're burning." Eli exclaimed and tap my butt.
I'm wearing a gold rhinestone bralette chain underneath my black velvet body-con dress with plunging v-neck line and a pair of champagne-colored glittered sock boots with stilettos heels.
"You look good yourself." I winked.
Eli is wearing a maroon tank top underneath her leather biker jacket and a fishnet stockings under her not just ripped but destroyed jeans. I really like her belt with tons of chains and that black combat boots.
I'm done with my makeup and while I'm doing my hair, Azzy came out of the shower.
"I've already picked your clothes, Azzy. It's perfect for you. It's something that says I'm fun but I'm not a hoe or like not a slut but not a virgin either." I said and pointed at her bed where I laid down her clothes.
"But I'm a virgin..." Azzy whispered.
Eli and I gasped at the same time. "You are?" We asked in chorus.
Azzy nodded with such an innocent reaction on her face like its saying that what's the big deal about it.
"Aww~ you're so azzydorable!" I exclaimed.
"So, let me get this straight, you're not sexually experienced but you did have past relationships, right?" Eli asked.
Azzy shook her head. No?
"What the heck were you doing in high school?" Eli asked and sounding really interested. Look who's funny now.
"Uh, studying?" Azzy replied.
I laughed a little as it came out like Azzy gave a curt response but she was hell serious with her answer.
"Are you sure you're not some kind of an angel?" Eli asked.
Azzy laughed. "I'm really not that nice. I'm a Libra so I like to balance things and I'm more on the peaceful side? I can control myself pretty well."
"Libra? Then you're very scary when you get to your boiling point. Libras are prone to outbursts of misplaced anger. And when you're sad... you tend to distance yourself from everyone." I said while continuing to curl my hair.
"How do you know that? Usually people only know their own sign's personality." Azzy asked while getting dressed.
"Well... I dated this guy before and he's a Libra. I started believing in those signs since he really matched Libra's personality."
"You don't look like someone who believes in those things. Good for you." Eli said mockingly.
—an hour passed
Azzy is wearing a white mesh crop top with floral embroideries, a white tank top, pastel pink bodycon skirt, and a pair of blush suede platform heeled sandals with glittered heels. Sexy but still classy and princessy.
"Not bad, not bad." Eli said while looking at Azzy from head to toe. "Maybe I should have asked you out." She giggled.
"Nope nope~ no relationship between roommates. One would be the third wheel and it'll be so awkward. Plus, we've seen each other naked! We're literally sisters from different parents." I complained.
"Well, I don't have a problem with a three-way relationship~" Eli joked.
I laughed and threw a pillow at her. She laughed and put the pillow back to where it belongs.
"Hey, Anthony's outside. I'll see you at the party?" Azzy said as she grabs her bag.
"Wow he's early. Point for him." I said. "We'll see you there. Enjoy your date."
Eli just waved goodbye and Azzy left the room. I took a peek on the window and saw Anthony standing beside his car, waiting for our cutie princess, Azalea. A few minutes passed and I saw her approaching him. They greeted each other with a hug. Anthony lean in for a kiss on the cheek but Azzy politely rejected it by moving slightly away.
I heard Eli giggling beside me. "This is gonna be hard for that dude." She said.
"Oh." I gasped when I saw my cousin, Seth, passing by carrying a box. "My poor cousin.."
"Why? Something happened to him? He looks like he's carrying the world on his own." Eli asked.
I nodded. "We talked yesterday after Azzy and I went shopping. Turns out he's having problems with his boyfriend. They went to Justin's parents' anniversary party last Wednesday and had a huge fight."
"Man, that's tough." Eli sympathized.
"Yeah. Sure is. They haven't talked since. Justin, that jerk, Seth thinks that he's still not over his ex. But I think, Justin might be cheating on him. Maybe I should introduce Seth to someone else."
Eli scoffed. "Introduce her to who? You're not even dating anyone."
"I'm not dating because I don't to! I know a lot, okay." I replied and rolled my eyes at her.
"Okay, chill. Whatever you say." She laughed.
"I'm gonna take a walk."
"In those heels?!" Eli exclaimed.
"Why not?" I smirked and walked out of the room.
I was strolling the park near our dormitory building when I saw a bridge above a wishing pond. I was intrigued and wanted to see what it looks like. As I was walking towards it, I realized that there's no other one in there. Is this some kind of a secret place?
I guess it is. I mean it's in the middle of something like a forest since there are a lot of trees. I'm still in the park right?
I was so excited to see the pond but something else caught my eyes. On the other side of the bridge, a couple was sitting on the grass having a picnic. Oh, I don't wanna disturb that. I was about to leave when I heard the girl laughing and squealing.
"Justin, stop tickling me!" She said while giggling.
Huh? Well... Justin is a common name right? But still, I need to know.
I hid in the bushes and used my phone's camera to see them closer. Boy, I'll be damned. It really is Seth's Justin. Why do I feel like I know this girl... Ah! High school girlfriend! No way.
I snapped some photos. Well, I have a feeling that I would need this.
How dare he cheat on my cousin?!
I walk back into our dorm in a fast pace as if I was running.
I called Seth to ask where he was and he's at the venue helping the upperclassmen with organizing the party. I said that I was on the way there and I need to tell him something.
Eli and I get in a cab to the venue. Of course, social media stalking begins. Cai Hong... She's not bad but I wanted to know what's going on.
"So, he really was cheating on him? With an ex? And a girl? What a douche!" Eli asked completely shocked.
"Tell me about it! Seth would be so heartbroken." I sighed.
"Are you going to tell him?" Eli asked.
"I should but I don't know. He deserves to know but I don't know if it should come from me." I replied.
"If you wouldn't tell him, who would? You should tell him." Eli said.
I nodded. We arrived at the venue and I went straight inside to look for Seth. I saw him sitting at the corner.
"Seth, I need to tell you something. It's about Justin." I said as I sat beside him.
Seth smiled at me but it's nothing like a happy smile. It's more like a bitter smile. I can see how sad his eyes are. My beloved cousin- I should kill that Justin one of these days.
"We've broken up." He said.
"Since when? I'm so sorry." I asked and hugged him.
"He had broken my trust and I don't know if he could regain it so, I just decided to break up with him. I'm not really sure if he was cheating but he lied enough. He's also going to Switzerland as an exchange student and there's a lot of things going on right now. It's not going to work anyway." Seth said.
Should I tell him? He already had enough. They've broken up. That should be enough, what he doesn't know wouldn't hurt him.
"What are you gonna tell me?" Seth asked.
"No, it's nothing." I shake my head and smiled at him trying to comfort him.
"b***h tell him." Eli appeared and hit my shoulder.
"Ouch!" I complained.
"Tell me what? C'mon, Maddie. Tell me." Seth said while staring at me like he was reassuring me that it's fine.
I sighed. "While stalking Cai on social media, she's currently studying at Switzerland. And I also accidentally stumbled upon this..." I said with my voice almost a whisper.
I handed him my phone which had the two's photo at their picnic.
"I knew it." Seth scoffed. "Thank you for telling me." He smiled weakly and walked out.
