Chapter Three Jace

1077 Words
I count down the days and nights, as I mark another mark on the wall of the cave, I have been here for one thousand and fifty-nine days. Tomorrow I can leave and go home, back to my family, back to anyone to talk to really. There has been more then one time I am not going to lie, that I thought I might not make it home, like I was losing my mind seeing and hearing things that are not real, I have found I don't really like my own company either. I settle in next to the fire to keep warm, I am exhausted from the hunt earlier, I close my tired eyes and let sleep take over. Around two hundred years ago a rite of passage was formed with in the Greyson Moon pack. The Alpha at the time declared war against many other packs, the war went on for years which led to the death of most the Alphas pack members. The Alphas son who was only sixteen at the time of the last war was ashamed of his father's actions and did not want to follow in his footsteps and bring weakness and dishonour to his pack when he would someday rule. So, he decided he needed to leave, he found himself living in the deepest parts of the forest alone. The longer the young Alpha stayed in the forest the stronger be became, he noticed. He used it to his advantage hunting what he could to survive. The Alpha survived in that forest for four years getting bigger, stronger and quicker. He knew now he was ready to return to the pack , but when he arrived home, he learned his father was dead. He had killed himself over the death of his mate who was ra*** and brutally murdered by one of the packs his father had declared war with. The Alphas beta second in command had held the pack together as best he could, waiting and hoping for the young Alpha to return. The Alpha worked hard to form an alliance with other packs and began to take over and challenge other Alphas. The Greyson Moon pack became the strongest and biggest pack anyone had ever seen before. Many years later the Alpha found his mate and marked her to complete the mate bond, she became the packs Luna. Soon after they had a son of their own, but on their sons sixteenth birthday the Alpha took him out to the forest and told him that for the next four years he was to live there alone to survive and become strong. But if he did not return after exactly four years it was because he was weak and unworthy to become the next Alpha of the Greyson Moon pack. I wake to a rustling sound just out side my cave, I look around to make sure I am alone. the fire has gone out and it's quite dark. Luckily, I can see in the dark thanks to my wolf, my eyes flick over to dark grey almost black as I call for my wolf's night vision. I look around but can't see anyone, the rustling is getting louder outside. I quickly get up and push my back against the cold cave wall just next to the opening of the cave. I peek out and see a shadow move out from behind a tree nearby and move closer to the opening I am on the other side of. When he moves through, I strike grabbing his shoulder as he turns towards me, then I quickly kick his feet out from underneath him sending him to the ground on to his back hard, knocking his breath away. I take the opportunity and rush forward with my fist clenched tight ready to strike again "wow Jace it's me" the man yells, shielding his face ready for my blow. I stop an inch before hitting his hands in front of his face, instantly recognising his voice. "Sam" I question, my voice sounding foreign to my own ears after not speaking to anyone for the last four years. "no, it's fuc**** king George the second, Yes it's me and that fuc**** hurt you dic*" he spits getting up and dusting himself off. I take a good look at him; he has not changed much over the last four years. He has gotten a lot bigger; not as big as me but that is to be expected when you have Alpha blood running through your veins. He cuts his hair differently now, it's short around the side and he has the top tied up, it suits him, he also has a large scar that runs from his left ear down his neck to beneath his top, it looks fresh like it had only happened a few months ago. I will question him about that another time though. "what are you doing here? And how did you even find me" I ask still shocked to see him. "oh well, I flew here in my hover car, and half the world has been taken over by robots while you have been gone" He laughs looking around the cave "sweet crib by the way" I smirk he has not changed one bit he is still as immature as ever. He has however gotten better at tracking, Sam is one of the best trackers in our pack. When we were kids and played the game hide and go seek, he would always find me no matter how well I hid or how far I went, it used to really piss me off. Still why is he here? I became worried something has happened "is everything OK back home?" I question nervous for his reply "yes everything is fine, I just wanted to make sure you weren't dead" he smirks. "well, you can clearly see I'm not" I laugh, he must have missed me. "we have about a six hour run ahead of us home, shall we be leaving then?" he asks. I take a good look around the cave, picking up a rock from the ground I place one last mark on the wall next to all the other, I look over at Sam "now I'm ready to leave" I say tossing the rock on the ground and shifting into my wolf, Sam follows suit and we take off running, soon I will be home where I belong.
