Chapter 4: Homeless

I thought the scandal for that day was over, after we took care of mum and cleaned her up with the help of Aunt Felicia and her supernatural charms, mum became herself. Aunt Felicia kept asking mum why she wouldn't go for a divorce. I wondered this myself, Mum kept saying she couldn't quit her marriage just like that, What the butt did that even mean??!!!!...she was sick, I thought inside of me. Aunt Felicia said one day she'll be called to come for my Mum's burial, I didn't see that as a joke, but Mum did. Aunt Felicia left after some time, she told us to learn to fight that man. Mum couldn't even talk back at her husband, how could she fight him??? there's just no hope for us. Dad came back with a bandaged arm, that's his problem, not ours. No one even looked at him.

"So you want to call someone to come kill me in my house right??? he asked furiously.

Looking down at my legs, I gently removed my school shoes because I still had them on, held lily's arm and ran out of the house, I knew my dad was going to beat us like never before if we had remained there, he ran after us but couldn't meet up, he chased us around our house, it was quite huge so running around it was a big punishment. He couldn't get us, his only option was to throw a plank with pointy nails at us, it didn't hit lily, she dodged the plank and it landed on my leg. He realized that it hit me, and he stopped chasing us. We didn't go back to the house, the only option we had was to stay outside the gate, we were scared of losing our lives. We sat outside the gate for an hour and some minutes, starving. We couldn't stand the risk of being chased again, I got tired of it. My injury gushed out blood, it was really bad. Lily had to tear a part of her clothes to tie up the injury, at least the bleeding stopped. I never knew lily was that smart, I was shocked.

It was already a dark evening, it was kinda hard for me to see anyone that passed but I was able to see some of my classmates, I spotted David. He was with some of our classmates, they were all guys. They approached us looking like they cared to know what made us stay out that late.

"What are you guys doing outside by this time??? They all asked this.

"What's your business, huh???? Walkout!!! I instructed.

they were upset, I sounded rude. They got angry and "Walked out".

David remained there, he didn't leave, it bothered me,

"why doesn't he want you to leave??? I don't want anyone laughing at my helpless situation and even if, not my crush. I felt miserable but couldn't do anything.

"Vanessa!!! he called out my name with a very calm tone.

" Hmmm???... I looked up at him, he looked so cute at that time, I forgot I had an injury.

" Why are you guys outside?? He asked, me.....lily was about to say something when my dad slammed the gate open from the inside.

"Good evening sir!!!.... David greeted him, he just looked over at David and sighed. David already knew what was happening, Dad's look made everything obvious.

" You can come to stay with me when you are homeless cause it's obvious you'll soon be, He concluded. Lily got angry at what he said, but I liked the idea, a lot. He walked away some moments after.

It's obvious Vanessa, he likes you, Lily divulges.

she shifted away from me for the fear of getting a slap. My Dad came back some moments after, probably from one of his babe's houses.

"Your gonna be dead meat before tomorrow...he promised prominently.

"What was he planning to do??? Kill me??? Jesus!!!!... I can't die...not now, I thought.

I was vigilant that night, Lily fell asleep, stupid girl. Anyone who walked past us was a suspect to me, I'll say I was vigilant. I caught the sight of 3 niggas standing just next to three different street light poles. It's them, the street lights came on, and I could see a little clearer. They kept observing us, and not long after, they started walking toward us. I tapped lily to wake up, I whispered to her...

"Someone's coming to kill us!!!...she sat up straight with her eyes wide open...she didn't ask any question at all, we started running, they chased us, they were quite fast, but couldn't meet up. I and lily saw an uncompleted building, we had to hide there to lose track of them.
