Ellie had been standing just behind the wall, completely unaware that Eddie and Frank were talking about her.
She hadn't meant to listen.
She had only come downstairs because she couldn't sleep and wanted to get some water. But the moment she heard her name, she stopped.
Her fingers tightened around the edge of the wall as she listened.
“You spent so long telling everyone that you could never fall for a girl,” Frank said. “That women were nothing but distractions to you. You treated Ellie like an enemy from the moment you met her.”
Ellie's heart sank.
She stayed there, listening.
Then Frank reminded Eddie of the kind of person he used to be.
“You said you'd never fall for anyone. You'd just pay a girl off, use her, and treat her like she meant nothing to you. Remember?”
