The girls are sitting inside Wendy’s room, facing each other in a circle form. All of them looking excited on knowing more how to use their powers and somewhat afraid of it too. Fiona opened the book with a hitched breath and they all squeezed in to read what is written on it. The Elementals: Guardians of the Good, Enemies of the Evil Holders of elemental stones, keepers of its spirits, guide the good and beat the evil. The Spirits— chapter 1 read. “The Spirits are the guardians of the people, protecting them with their powers. Their purpose is to beat the evil that may harm people.” All girls glanced at each other briefly, feeling the slightest weight of the responsibilty that comes with their powers. “The spirits are well respected and worshipped by all humans over the first few decades not until they started to be fully dependent on them.” “They were not happy about it, seeing how people won’t make a simple effort for themselves. So they hid their selves among the humans, choosing the rightful human, a vessel that will accept and fulfill the purpose of each spirit.” A moment of silence passed through them, thinking deeply with what they’ve just read. A knock on the door brought them back to reality, and Wendy’s mom stepped holding a tray with cake slices and a pithcer of lemonade. “Oh sorry for interrupting you girls but I really wanted you to taste this cake, its my new recipe,” she winked at them. “Thank you Mrs Shappe,” Esther smiled sweetly at her and started to her slice of cake. “Oh don’t mention it, you know Wendy’s friends are my friends too. I’ll be downstairs if you need anything,” she said, closing the door behind her. They ate their cakes in silence, not knowing what to say. After they’ve finished eating, Fiona cleared her throat, making the girls look at her. “So were like superheroes huh,” she said, trying to lighten the mood. “I don’t know, don’t you think its a big responsibility? You know, fighting evil, protecting the good?” Aliyah looked worried. “Well, I don’t mind,” Esther shrugged her shoulder. “Atleast we have powers to do it, and we have each other.” “Esther’s got a point,” Wendy said, finally founding her tounge. “Besides, its not like we can disagree to this, we’re the chosen ones. Do you think The Spirits would chose just a random person?” “And Aliyah, we won’t let anything happen to each other. We will face everything as a team, just like we always do, okay?” Fiona said, tapoing her shoulder. Aliyah sighed. “Okay, I guess.” They flipped the book onto its next page and it this is what they’ve read: “every chosen elemental can only read the chapters written about them. If they’ll try reading chapter that are beyond their elements, the pages would appear blank.” “These books can be divided to each one of you, according to your elements by placing your right hands on the cover, asking the book for permission to be divided temporarily.” Wendy immediately stood to lock the door so that no one would see what they are doing. They nod at each other, all placing their right hand above the book. It shed a beam of light so bright making their eyes shut. As the opened their eyes, they noticed that each of them is holding a thinner version of the book. “We did it!” Esther said, iniating a hug. All of them joined in. “Shall we called it a day and read on our own?” Fiona excitement is written all over her face. “I think we should, we can’t see each other’s book anyways.” Wendy agreed. Aliyah smiled at her friends, thinking how they easily accepted this fate. She is still a bit worried, feeling sooner or later something will happen that would destroy their friendship.
