CHAPTER 2

KYLIE’S POV: “Eeeww! Get covered up!” Rowan groans, throwing his face away like it is disguised by his body. The cold from the water bites into my skin. My body shudders from that and from the embarrassment. I throw my hands across my chest, backing up against the wall. A part of me is still in shock that he saved me instead of letting me fall to my doom. “You shouldn’t have saved her,” Ronan says, and I glance at him. “Now, she thinks we are probably in love with her or maybe she is sexy because she is flashing some titties at us.” Rowan chuckles as his brother speaks. The mischievous grin on their faces remains. “Can you both leave already, please?” I ask with a broken voice, backing up against the wall. I want to make a run for it, but I fear I will fall. This time I might not be so lucky to be saved, and I already picture myself smashing my head against the tile. “We have seen better, Kylie. Do not think tiny dots will interest us.” Ronan grabs my shirt. “And do not think of telling our father, because we will make this evening miserable for you at the dance, little omega,” he whispers, causing bumps to sprout up my skin. They both turn to leave while I stand there with my chest burning from a lot of emotions. The tears in my eyes barely fall because I have almost seen every form of maltreatment and humiliation. I pick my steps on the slippery floor, finally making it out. “Kylie!” Alpha Ian calls from a few steps into the hallway. I turn around to see him close to the stairs. His eyes remain on me, scanning my soaked body. His brows curl in anger. “What happened in there?” I shake my head, fear crossing my eyes. “It is nothing. The pressure was bad, and I mistakenly wet myself. Ronan and Rowan saved me.” I lie because I do not want to complicate the matter further. His eyes narrow. I can tell he doesn’t believe me, but he doesn’t push further. “I got you a dress for the ball. It is on your bed, and you should check it out. I hope you like it,” he says, and I give him a bow. “Thank you, Alpha Ian.” In my room, I spot the box with the dress. I take it out to see a blue flowy gown with a floral design. I throw on the beautiful piece in front of the mirror. Everything is perfect, and I almost forget who I am, thrown into a world of fantasy and dreaming to find my mate at the party tonight. But then a rip sound from the dress brings me back to reality. “s**t!” I groan, turning around to see the huge dent on the dress. “Kylie, have you tried it on yet?” Alpha Ian asks, placing a knock on my door. I swallow hard, afraid he will be angry that I ripped the probably expensive dress. “Ye.. ye.. No!” “Is everything okay?” he asks. “Yes, I just…” I pull the door open, sucking in my breath. “The zip snapped.” My face falls, and he smiles at me. “It is nothing. Rowan and Ronan are headed out to fit their clothes, and they can take you.” My face pales. “It is okay. If they act out of character, you let me know.” He pats my shoulder. “Now, go change before they leave.” I nod slowly, shutting the door, and getting into a casual outfit. Then, I package the dress and walk out of the room. The Alpha leads me downstairs to the garage. The twins are already in the car, getting ready to pull out of the driveway when the Alpha stops them. “What now?” Ronan growls, his piercing blue eyes shooting me an angry look. “Take Kylie with you. Her zip snapped, and it has to be fixed before the party.” Rowan groans, rubbing his temples. “Of course. Little Miss Charity Case finding a way to insert herself into our lives!” “Why wouldn’t the dress rip when she eats like a f*****g horse?” Ronan adds, and they both give me a humiliating laugh. “You both should get a hold of yourselves, and be nice to her!” the Alpha snaps. Then he opens the back seat. I get in slowly, sinking into the fabric of the back seat, hoping to disappear. The boys roll their eyes, pulling onto the road. Before I can fasten my seat belt, Ronan, who is at the wheel, hits the gas, and I lurch forward, slamming my face into the back of his seat. Then he slows down, and they turn to face me. “Fasten your seatbelt, dweeb!” Rowan yells, and my hands fidget, finding the belt. I buckle it, curling up in the backseat, trying to keep a blank mind. I have allowed them to hurt me for a while, and I believe having selective amnesia is the best way to get over it. Suddenly, the car comes to a halt a few blocks away from the store. “Get out!” Rowan grits his teeth, and I glare at them in confusion. “Do not make me repeat myself,” he adds. I try to stand up for myself. “It is snowy outside, and—” “And no way in hell are we going to be seen with you. The store is crowded with people from… High,” Ronan says as he reaches for the back door, opening it. They succeed in pushing me out of the car, then zoom off. I painfully find my way through the snow to the store front. As I open the door, I freeze as eyes fall on me. I look for Ronan and Rowan, finding them in a corner with their girlfriends. “What is little Miss Pauper doing here?” Ronan’s girlfriend and the school queen bee, Lana, asks, sizing me up. Rowan’s girlfriend, Tyla, gasps, her brows crumpling. “Do not tell me she rode here with you guys,” she says to Ronan, raising her brows. “What were we supposed to do? She is our father’s favorite charity case. She needs her zip mended,” Ronan says. Then, Lana grabs Tyla’s hand. “How about we help her out?” she asks with a smirk, making her way towards me.
