CHAPTER 77
The limo was waiting outside Dan’s Hollywood home to take him to the Academy Awards. His personal manager, Ken, was desperately hurrying him along – he was tasked with making sure Dan met his allotted time slot to arrive at the red carpet.
Dan had tussled with finding a date to attend the ceremony with, or going it alone – he opted for the latter. He didn’t want to be linked with any other women. His mother was unable to be his plus one - she was looking after his grandmother after a hip replacement - and Cara was attending with Tammy. He didn’t think he stood a chance of winning anyway, despite the buzz that had surrounded his deeply emotional performance in a film that had surprised and wowed audiences across the globe.
