Chapter 3~ Alejandro Jiménez

"Oh, okay," She replies, committing my name to memory. " I'll leave you to have some time with your brother," she says, while leaving the room and closing the door behind her. “Hola, hermano. ¿Me extrañaste?” ( Hello, brother. Did you miss me?" ) I said calmly, with no warmth, standing by his bedside. His eyes flutter open, fear filling his eyes. He knows the reason I'm here. His hands twitch like he wants to reach for something. The call button? I laugh bitterly. Not a chance, Santiago. Swatting his hand away, I wrap my hands around his neck, squeezing tightly. He struggles weakly, making little noises of discomfort. He used his frail hands to try to get me to release him. I stop after a while. He sucks in as much air as he can. I take off his oxygen mask and look him dead in the eye. " I told you, I'll take back everything." I say. Tearing off his mask completely, I take my gun and shoot him in the mouth. Twice. I take one final look at him. The man I once looked up to when I was younger despite the way he treated me. And then I hear it—a squeak. I turn around to find my brother's nurse. Observing the scene with tears streaming down her face. We lock eyes, and she tries to make a run for it. I shoot the door, preventing her from opening it. " Oh my God," she cries out with her hands in the air. Turning around to face me , she kneels. "Please don't kill me," I sigh, sitting on the chair beside the bed, pressing my fingers against my forehead. I can feel a migraine coming up. " I swear, I won't say anything, just let me go. Please." She continues to cry. "What's your name?" I ask, sitting cross-legged on the chair. "E-Eleanor," she replies "Okay. Do me a favour and shut up. I don't want to hear any sound. No more cries. No more sniffles. Got it?" She nods frantically. Good, I need to think. And I need to think fast. How the f**k did I not notice she entered the room?. If I kill her, that would be a big problem for me. One, this location is not exactly convenient. Two, she probably has family, friends and whatnot who would raise alarm if she went missing. Not saying I can't make someone disappear without a trace. She's just unpredictable. Whereas if I don't, who knows who she'll blab to? Unless... "Call it" I say "What?" She asks, her voice cracking a little. "I don't like repeating myself Elaine" " Eleanor" she corrects. See unpredictable. One minute she's crying her eyes out, the next she's correcting me. "I really don't give a f**k about your name." I reply . " Call the time of death assuming you checked when he died. " " You mean when you killed him?, I can't do that" she replies. " Why not?". I ask, exasperated. " Because it's not right" she answered rather confidently. Hold on a sec. I'm holding the gun, I have the upper hand here. Smiling sinisterly and pointing the gun to her head " okay then, you would probably join him in the afterlife with your self-righteous ass" "Okay ,okay, okay. I'll do it" she answers still shaking. " But I also need to call the morgue." "That's won't be necessary, darling. Just tell whoever you need to tell, that his brother is taking him home. You know feed them the usual bullshit he doesn't want to be in this hospital any longer, it's depressing and whatnot. " "Don't call me that " she replies as she documents the time of death in the system beside the bed. " Call you what darling? " I answered tauntingly. She glares at me, pursing her lips. "Tick-tok" I remind her waving the gun. She's about to say something when there's a knock on the door. Well, s**t. "Don't do anything stupid," I warn with a low voice. I give her a stern look before sauntering into the bathroom.
