Chapter 6~ Eleanor Charles

257 Words
Oh my God. What is happening today? I should've probably called in sick. Now I'm going to go to prison. I shuffle my feet nervously. I try to avoid making eye contact with the officers. Even if I wanted to, I couldn't. They're blatantly staring at the man behind me. If I wasn't in this mess, I'd stare, too. I mean, he's beautiful, despite his arrogance and rudeness. With his constant need to rile me up by calling me "darling", It would have been really sweet if that wasn't one of his mind games. The elevator ride takes longer than usual. I watch the number go down slowly. Too slow. A wave of anxiety hits me, leaving my stomach churning with unease. I turn to my right, observing the women giggling like schoolgirls. They look young and happy, maybe rookies? I really don't care. I just need distraction from what's waiting to unfold. I could feel his eyes on me, watching my every move. The elevator dings, and my heart races. Once the door opens, the officers rush out, caught up in their own bubble. I stand there, frozen, despite people trooping in. Young and old, wearing different expressions. Sadness, joy, worry. I feel a hand on my back leading me out of the elevator. As much as I don't want him touching me , I appreciate the comfort. Although, I think he's just steering me away from conversations he deems unnecessary. But I'd like to be delusional because I might be heading to my death. Maybe.
