Chapter 9

That didn’t go as plan, I lost control again. How is it that she has consumed me so. If I wasn’t the alpha I’d probably go and get myself drunk to just relief myself of all my problems for a while. Even that thought proofs the situation is bad, I’m not a drinker and I won’t ever drink to relief me of my problems. “Dad!” “Owen! What did I say about yelling!” “Sorry mom, where is dad?” “Are you alright?” “Yes I’m fine I just need to talk to dad about stuff...” “Stuff... He isn’t home, he is out meeting with an Alpha from another pack.” “That is my job! I’m the Alpha of this pack!” I can’t believe my own parents would go behind my back like this... “Go make me a cup of tea.” I’m about to explode of outrage and she wants me to go and make tea! I stormed off to go make the tea. My mother only drinks lavender tea, it isn’t bad it almost has this minty flavour to it, but it’s a lot of work since she doesn’t like buying it, I have to make it myself. I boiled the water and got the cup, sifter and the dry lavender. I put the sift over the cup with the lavender in it and then in circular motion, I slowly poured water over it. It’s actually very calming. Wait this is the smell I couldn’t place, my mate smells of the forest, mint and lavender. Once the cup was full I added some sugar and took it to my mom. “Do you feel better now?” “Yes thank you mom.” She knew the process would calm me down. Mothers. “Alright let’s talk, I can help with that stuff too you know, maybe even better than your father.” “I don’t...” “Sit down.” No way out of this now. I sat down on the couch and my mom sat across from me. “Alright talk.” I don’t even know what I want to talk about, I just needed to talk, I’m confused. “Come on Owen I didn’t raise you to be quiet and internally debate your problems open your mouth and let go.” “The Luna doesn’t have a say equal to the Alpha! The pack bows to the Alpha not the Luna! She isn’t even Luna!” My mom sighed. “Poor boy...you don’t get it yet, you haven’t grown up yet, I thought by now you would have grasped your role as an Alpha better.” “What?” Is my mother seriously telling me she doesn’t believe in my ability to be Alpha. “Why do you think that the BloodShadow pack is the most successful pack?” “Most feared pack you mean.” I corrected my mother harshly. “No... We aren’t just feared, we are admired for our success for our will too be one.” “We are the largest and most dangerous pack that exist, we take extreme measures that other packs won’t in order to survive and grow.” “No it’s because we are a family, a unity... a family can’t be a family if there aren’t parents or adults to give direction and keep everyone together and to educate. If there isn’t an authority it will be chaos. The same with a pack the Alpha and Luna are the parents, protectors and guardians of the pack...and the pack is the family. The pack isn’t employees or slaves to the alpha they are family and they have to trust and respect you, not be submissive and bow to you. As for the Luna thing, they say behind ever man is a woman, your Luna supports you and she is as much a leader as you, maybe in other packs she is more like the royal baby maker or something, but here in this pack the men value their women. I was as much the leader of this pack as your father. Maybe you are still too new to grasp this, but once you have your Luna by your side and you have paired with your wolf and each other you have a bond, you are equal, you are one. There is no Alpha without the Luna and no Luna without the Alpha it’s a package deal.” “When dad spoke people listened, they responded. If he asked something of them they did it.” “Yes, but if they asked something of him he did it as well.” “It’s not like that.” “Isn’t it? You want something from those girls, but you refuse their request.” “It’s against the rules and I deny them because it’s the best thing for the pack.” “Don’t allow power to get the best of you.” “I’m not, I’m not power crazy mom, I just want be a great leader.” “You’re not being one when you keep trying to measure up to your father, you shouldn’t ever want to be like someone else, you should be yourself, be a better Alpha than your father.” “I also wanted to talk about the great five.” “What about it?” “Can I pick who I want my supporting team to be or should they be from the great five?” “They don’t have to be, it has always just worked out that way. You’re friends with them aren’t you? it would seem to be the obvious choice.” “Looks can be deceiving.” “Yes it can. Do you remember the story of the great five?” Of course it’s the first story we ever hear, it is our packs history. “I do...” “Let me get the book.” She rushed to the library and came back with a book that is still in good condition for it being 168 years old. It contains our family’s history. It is Aegeus Alexandros dairy. “When Aegeus settled here and bought this ground to build Solace des Mondes he only had one person, his wife he referred to her as his German beauty and it was for her that he build this place. At first he only build a house on the vast land he owned, then his pack started to grow and he needed to expand that’s when he build this very house, to be the pack house and even though his pack was small he had plans for it, it doesn’t matter how big a pack is, the prosperity of it is what mattered. He was a very charismatic person which worked to his benefit.” My mom was talking to me while flipping through the book to the page she was looking for. Once she found it she lifted the book to show me the page. On it was a drawn compass that laid over a map of the grounds. “BloodShadow wasn’t the only pack. Solace des Mondes was in the middle, it was the central of everything, the middle point of the compass. The four surrounding areas each had a pack. One was North, one East, one South and one West of here. The four packs were in a war over grounds and silly disputes and being in the middle of all off it Aegeus worried about his pack safety and of his pregnant wife that had become ill and very weak. He set up a meeting with the Alpha’s of the other packs, none of them knowing that all of them would be there. He then locked them in a room. It was in that room where history was made. Aegeus spoke with authority when he explained what he envisioned for the future of Solace des Mondes and they listened. The idea of what he described made them forget their wars and silly deputes and when he asked that they sell their grounds to him, they agreed and formed one pack. The first thing they did was build that wall that is still standing, that is protecting this pack.” “They were 5 great leaders that came together and changed what was expected of wolves. This pack is built on pure magic, magic that made 4 dominating Alpha’s step down in order to better their packs. Do you know of any Alpha that would willingly give up his position?” “No.” I confirmed her suspicion, I definitely wouldn’t ever do that. “This pack is the descendants of those amazing people we have that magic running through us.” She closed the book holding on to it like it was the most precious thing on this world. “It was that sacrifice that makes them important, but it is up to you who you choose and if you do choose you only get to choose your beta and third, and they choose the fourth and fifth.” It wouldn’t be fair to choose different families, it has always been the five of us: Alexandros, Pearce, Henderson, Dawson and Ashworth. And it will always be. “You bastard!” as I turned my head I got hit with a fist making my head swing back to my mother. “Don’t ever touch my sisters again!” “Dax...” “f**k you Owen!” And maybe it won’t always be. “I guess you asked me all the right questions.” My mom said, trying not to smile. “You should put something cold on that eye of yours before it starts to swell.” Who knew Dax could hit this hard.   Sapp’s POV    “Is there any food left from last night?” I looked up at Oliver and Luke standing in the door way. “No the two of you pigged out, I hardly got any.” I had made dinner in Luke’s place since he was still at the diner working in my place last night. I did too good of a job it was crazy, all 15 of them stormed the one table and started to grab and stuff the food into their mouths. “It’s not our fault if you made the food taste bad we wouldn’t pig out!” Oliver said grabbing a slice of French toast and put the whole thing in his mouth. “Smaller bites, you’re going to kill yourself.” I scolded him acting like a mother. “Not likely.” He said around the food in his mouth. “And I made extra I’m getting use to the eating habits in this house.” “Shhh.” Luke placed his hand over my mouth. “Don’t say stuff like that out loud, I want to take as much as I can before the whole house storms down here!” They already heard me, the kitchen begun to fill up. I grabbed my bag and head to the back door.   “Wait up!!” I looked over my shoulder at Luke chasing me his one hand full of French toast and  the other one clutching a bottle syrup. “Damn if I intend to stay your friend I’m going to starve!” “Why didn’t you stay and eat.” “Why didn’t you?” “I’m not hungry!” “Of course you are, here you go.” He watched me until I took a bite of it. He pushed a piece of his in his mouth and then squirted some syrup in too. “I thought that it is our thing walking together to school.” I rolled my eyes at him and started walking again; I couldn’t help the smile on my face either. I love how caring Luke is, I always wanted a big brother. “Any plans for today?” “Yes, go to class and then detention and then bed.” “You forgot drama. Tristan will be waiting to hear the stories he says he is in need of it.” “Sorry to hear that, because I’m in a no drama mindset now.” “I prefer that!” I’m glad at least one person is on my side and would like me to avoid any unnecessary drama. “But if drama does find you I’ll be there don’t worry you can count on me.” “If you keep shrugging down the bread like that you’ll choke and die.” “Just trying to finish it before we get to school.” I just shook my head at him. We broke through the trees and the school courtyard came into view.  There were kids sitting around some walking with their friends and others rushing to their first classes. “Thanks for the walk it was interesting seeing someone push 5 slices of French toast into their mouth at once. It was really something special.” “It’s my pleasure, why does it sound like a goodbye though?” He asked me. “Cause it is, I have do something.” “Right I get it, I see it.” It felt awkward this could have waited until he left for class and I left for mine, but when opportunity comes knocking...I smiled at Luke one last time and then I ran across the grass field and to the edge of the courtyard. “Hi.” “Wait, what did I do?” Owen asked me, looking curiously at me and Luke who was suspiciously hanging in the background. “Nothing, I’m just being friendly, you did say that you wanted to be friends right?” “Yeah.” He looked so confused. I figured that in order to blend more, public scenes should be avoided, we are both mature and should act like it. “What happened to your eye?” he touched his blue eye and smiled at me. “I got hit.” “Wait you got hit I would have never guessed.” The sarcasm was so clear in my voice that it made him smile even more. “It’s not that big of a surprise you kicked my ass a few times too. Anyways I deserved it.” “Now that I can believe.” His smile dropped for a second. “Owen have you seen Dax?” Nathan asked as he came to join us. “No I haven’t seen him since yesterday, I’m not his keeper.” Looks like I’m not the only one that has issues with Owen. “It’s strange no one has seen him since last night. Sapphire.” Nathan nodded at me, acknowledging my presence. Urg...  he should have just ignored me. “Nathan,” I sneered his name like it was something revolting. He can’t just mess with Hope’s feelings like this, even though he doesn’t know he does it. “Trying something different today?” He asked me and I just flat out ignored him. “We’re attempting to keep the peace.” Owen answered him, frowning at me. “Nathan!!” a girl yelled running up to us. “Thanks for last night I had a great time, call me anytime.” Oh really, ‘I hate you Nathan! Loose my number’ I thought the thought so hard it felt like my mind would erupt and then I made it appear in her mind. “I hate you Nathan, lose my number.” Next is a gagging reflex. I saw her hand flying to her mouth as she ran from us. “I guess you lost that charm of yours, not all girls are that into a man w***e. It was nice talking to you Owen.” What did I do, since when do I use my magic for vengeance? I’m acting like Analize from when she hated humans. I’ve never hated anyone so much, is it because he hurt Hope, I just hated seeing her so messed up by a guy. At least I’ve started my morning on a good page. “Zoe! Mya!” I saw them ahead of me. Today I’m embracing being normal. They are my friends, that’s normal. “Hi blue.” Zoe greeted me while Mya just smiled. “You trying something different, Mya?” I can’t belief I just used those words, Nathan slipped into my mind and I felt the hate building and I let it slip. Oh no. “I hate you Nathan, lose my number.” I turned to look at Nathan’s dumbfounded look on his face as every girl he passed said the exact thing to him. Hope joined us and she was totally stunned by the turn of events. “Maybe his ego will deflate and he’ll disappear.” I joked, but she didn’t think I was being funny, she’s still mad at me. Nathan finally reached us looking a bit grim. Which is when the twins said the repeated sentence, simultaneously. Hope just looked at him and he looked back. She must really love him if she can reject my magic like that. She quickly stormed of though. “Back to your scarf, I wouldn’t have ever guessed you would wear a scar, I guess I just pair the two of you with flirty clothes.” Just like Analize except that one time when... “Mya take of your scarf, now!” I didn’t mean for it to be an order, but she immediately took it of and I saw the bruise all over her throat. “Who did that!” She clamped her mouth shut like she had to stop herself from telling me and just then I saw her eyes shooting in a direction. I turned and saw Owen heading in our direction, screw peace. I stormed over to him, an unusually big smile spreading over his face. “Leave my friends alone, if you ever touch one of them again, I’ll kill you! Stay away from them and stay away from me!” I turned back to the twins and for once they were shocked to silence. “Come on we have class.” The twins smiled in delight and followed me. Oh I can’t believe I just did that what is going on with me today. Okay I just need to shake it off. “I guess I’m not the only one that hates your guts. Nice black eye.” I looked down the hall just as we turned the corner to see Daxton smiling while walking away from Owen.   The look on Owen’s face stuck with me for the rest of the day. He looked so grim, just like Nathan and I’m at fault I made them both feel rejected, embarrassed and out of control. I’m a witchcraft bully' mean, unavoidable and dangerous. I feel sick, I’ve never set out to hurt someone. “Are you okay? You are awfully quiet?” Tristan asked “Yeah I’m fine, I’m just glad that my second detention was canceled, I missed you way to much and the thought of leaving my job in Luke’s hands is pretty terrifying.” “Hey I have to give the dude credit he wasn’t all that bad.” I smiled at Tristan, taking the food he laid out for me to my table. “Okay Tristan two bowls of soup and croissants sandwiches, one chicken the other one ham and cheese.” He was smiling a big smile like a maniac. “What? Do you like preparing soup?” “Looks like Lover boy didn’t get the note this morning when you said and I quote, ‘stay away from me and my friends.’ Luke filled me in.” “It’s pathetic how excited you get by the drama of my life.” “I know, go and get me some orders.” I walked into the main room and saw the usual group is separated. Owen, Valeri, Nathan, colt and Dawn was at the one table and Daxton, Zoe, Mya, Ryder, Nicole, Hope, Kindin and Terin was at the other one. I guess this is turning into something bigger than what I imagined. “Hi I’ll be your waitress today, is there anything I can get you?” “Aren’t you our waitress every day.” Valeri exclaimed “Val...” Owen started but I was quick to interrupt him. “Like waiting on you is such a thrill, you’re not as important as you might think, so why not spare us both the agony and keep your snarky remarks to a minimal and just give me your order.” “Oh...” “I said give me your order!” s**t there I go again, ordering people around, being rude and overbearing. “Bacon and mushroom burger, a chicken salad and chips on the side with a glass of water.” She immediately told me her order her face paling as each word slipped from her mouth. “Thank you, Owen?” “Same.” He was staring at me in bewilderment, so was everyone else. It made me really uncomfortable and soon everyone was agreeing with Valeri’s order.  So five of that. I turned and left heading to the window where Tristan was waiting for me, with my other order. “Five bacon and mushroom burgers, chicken salads with chips on the side and water.” “Scary b***h aren’t you?” He joked shaking his head. I took the food to the elderly couple at my one table before moving on to the other table. “Do you guys want another table I still have one left, you’re crammed in here like sardines.” “Are you going to order us to do it?” I frowned at Hope, why is she still so snippy with me. “No be uncomfortable if you want, can I take your order?” “I’m leaving, I don’t want to be served by a hypocrite.” Hope got up to leave. “Ryder you need to take me home!” “Nicole is hunger.” “Ryder, please.” He sighed and got up, Nicole followed him. Great just great. “I guess you won’t need that table after all.” I absentmindedly wrote down their orders and took it too Tristan. For some silly reason I felt like crying. Hope is being so mean and I’ve never had to face a situation like this, my sisters were my friends they couldn’t give me the cold shoulder like that. The rest of the afternoon went on like that. Owen went over to Daxton’s table and I think he apologized, Daxton just got up and ordered the twins to leave with him, they only ate half of their food. “Sometimes I wish I could be a fly at that school.” I looked at Tristan as he handed me the next plate to dry. “It’s not all that great.” I felt horrible, I felt guilty and sick to my stomach thinking about my hand in all of this tension. I also felt a splitting headache approaching.   “Luke, get out!” I threw the soapy sponge at his head. “Hey what’s going on?” “She’s going psycho!” Luke told the guy that walked in. “Maniac Barbie.” The other guy joked, and I threw the bottle of handy Andy at him. Which gave him a clue and he left. “Look I’m sorry I was only trying to make breakfast!” “You killed my stove, I’ve been scrubbing half an hour and I can’t get the oats off!” “I’m sorry.” “What did you do?” “Well I tried making oatmeal, but it was more like water with a little oatmeal and then it turned into volcanic oatmeal.” “You shouldn’t ever cook again!” “It’s not that bad!” “Not that bad, do you want to come and clean up here? Because I’d seriously not have a problem with that.” “I would but you’re doing such a great job.” He seemed to notice it was the wrong thing to say, since he picked up the sponge and Handy Andy. “Let me help you.” He helped me scrub of the burned oatmeal from the element plate of the stove. It took a while, but we finally finished it. “Are you okay, you seem...different?” He asked carefully, probably afraid that I would throw him with something. “I just don’t feel well I’ve had a headache since last night and my ears are super sensitive, they don’t want to shut up, I can hear every little thing. That’s how I heard the pot boiling over and the guys playing Xbox games in the living room. The wolf in the forest, the bird in the tree, car driving up and down, people talking, sneezing, couching even farting.” I held on too my head closing my eyes. “Maybe you should stay here today I mean, school is going to be a lot worse.” “No I’m fine, I don’t want to miss school over a headache. I have to go and get dressed.” I walked back upstairs and into my room. I got dressed in jeans a top and a pulled on hoody. I stuffed some cotton ball in my ears and then put my earphones on, all I could hear was the sound of a river blasting softly into my ears. I left my hair down to cover my ears and then I pulled the hood over my head. Luke looked somewhat bemused at my attempts to avoid the sound.   It helped a while, but then the noise overpowered me again, it got too bad, so I retreated into the forest. It was still loud, but animals crawling, and wind blowing is better than students talking and bells ringing. I just kept walking exploring the forest. Until I got to a wide river. On the other side of the river was a forest, almost like this one it just wasn’t as thick, and it had a mountain, both sides are reflected in the water, almost touching but not. I heard the footsteps before I saw the big brown wolf on the other side. It stood right at the edge just staring at me. I was caught in his stare, I feel like its prey, I’m afraid if I move he’ll pounce, and the chase will start. I’ve never felt so much menace in one look. I couldn’t hear or see anything but him, the air around me felt ice cold, goose bumps spread all over my body, then I heard the growl, not from across the river, but from behind me and I felt relieve wash over me all the fear disappeared, and I was out of the spell. I looked at the wolf and he gave me one last glace before disappearing into his forest. “Thanks, wolfie, I’m glad you showed up. I’m glad that wolf isn’t on this side.” I turned and was shocked when I was greeted by three wolves. “You brought friends. Hi.” Wolfie is taller than the other two and he stood ahead of them. The one wolf is just a little bit smaller than wolfie and he is a very dark brown. He seems more alert than the other one. He is sandy and a bit smaller, he seems like he has better things to do. Wolfie growled at me, okay he is angry. “Don’t start with me! I’m so not in the mood for a preach from you, it’s going to be a one sided argument anyway, I’ll talk and you’ll growl.” He walked closer to me and started pushing me into the forest with his snout. “Pushy aren’t we?” He growled again. “Okay so here is the story, I don’t feel well, not at all...actually I feel downright horrid.” He froze and nuzzled me. “I’m fine, I just have a very bad headache and I can hear like every little thing it makes it a lot worse, I came into the forest as a reprieve from all the sounds at school.” He looked at the other two wolves and they left leaving us alone. He walked to under a tree and laid down looking at me. I walked over and laid down, my head cuddling into his fur. This isn’t normal, not even close. Who lays down and cuddles with a wolf in free will. “I’m guessing the wolf on the other side of the river is not a friend?” I felt the growl bubble up in his body before I heard it, it was bloodcurdling and loud...so loud, I shut my eyes and held on to my head. He whimpered, and I opened my eyes to look at him. “It’s okay don’t worry so much, but let’s keep the growling to a minimal.” He nodded his head and I closed my eyes again cuddling more into his side, my fingers buried in his fur as I fell asleep. His breathing calming me.   “Where were you!” “I was in the forest.” I told a frantic Luke while holding onto my head. “You should really stop that! How are you feeling, your headache any better?” “No, I’m going to take some big pain pills now and sleep until I feel better, good night.” I waved over my shoulder dragging myself up the stairs and into my room. I fell onto the bed and made a glass of water and pills appear on my end table. I quickly drank them and then crawled under the covers. If Luke didn’t wake me for school the next morning I would have probably never gotten up. This continues for about three days, which is when it got worse instead of better. My headaches turned light sensitive, I couldn’t face any bright lights, so most of the time I looked down at the floor while walking. Lights, windows, tv’s and cell phones were a big no. The next day it was even worse I wore light shaded sunglasses. They helped a little, but I still had to avoid light areas. By the next day I was wearing big black eye classes and got sent to the principal’s office three times by my teachers, the most common reason they came up with for the glasses was that I was sleeping in their classes. Every time the principle would confiscate my classes and I’d just make a new pair reappear. I canceled work, calling in sick at least they understood since they saw me the previous day and sent me home earlier than usual. This morning getting up was impossible my headache was so splitting that it had me off balance, every little bit of light seemed over bright and I couldn’t stop the tears that was pouring down my face. Why is the moon being so cruel this month, it’s still two days till the full moon and I can’t imagine this getting any worse. “Hey Sapphire! Are you awake!” Why does he have to be so loud, I cringed at every knock on the door and every word leaving his mouth. “Yeah I’m up, I’m not going in today, maybe I should just rest then I’ll feel better.” I said shying away from my own voice. “I’ll come and check up on you at lunch.” “No I’m fine, I’ll probably be asleep I’ll see you this afternoon.” He stood there behind my door thinking about it. “Uhm okay, see you then.” As he left I jumped up and got started covering my curtains with my blankets... so it went until my entire room was a dark hole. I still felt terrible and I just couldn’t take it anymore.   “Sapphire! Are you here!” I heard Hopes voice coming from down stairs. I texted her because I need her help. We still haven’t really talked since our fall out, but if I had to choose someone to trust it would be her. “I’m in my room.” I yelled back down towards her. She sighed audibly and came upstairs, her irritation evident in her hard footsteps. She knocked on my door, once again her irritation could be heard. My head felt it definitely “Come inside and close the door...please.” I said from inside the room and I swear she growled. She opened the door came in and slammed it shut. My whole room was enveloped in pitch darkness. “You haven’t directly and singularly talked to me since the other day and then you text me, ‘Come to the boarding house...Emergency’ you couldn’t even use full sentences. It’s like you summoned me and that is rude, you aren’t something special, I do not worship you like Owen! Urg where are you!” She screeched out in annoyance and I almost wanted to yell back at her ‘why did you even come then!’ but I know why she came, it’s because we are friends and I believe she’ll do anything for her friends. “I’m here in the corner.” I’m huddled under blankets upon blankets in the corner next to my closet. “What the hell is going on here! Do you have a hangover or something?” Something is more like it. My whole room is a disaster and frankly I’m impressed that she hasn’t fallen over something. Blankets are tucked in at my window railing, covering the curtains, making the room darker than dark.  My mattress is against the wall leaning against the blankets, in order to keep it against the wall. The rest of my room is in chaos, the floors are covered in clothes, books and shoes. I heard as she neared me and she came to sit down or kneel next to me. “What’s with the darkness?” He voice seemed a little bit more sensitive now. “The sun hurts my eyes and head.” I said through the blankets, which are beginning to suffocate me. “Sapphire what’s going on?” Her voice had a touch of compassion and worry in it. “Hope I have to tell you something, a secret. That’s why I texted you, because I need your help and I know I can trust you.” “Alright, but can you come out from under there?” I pulled the blankets away from me and looked at her, I couldn’t really see much of anything, I faintly saw some small detail and her outline. Which is good, because if she saw me now she would run, my hair is flat and lifeless, my skin is paler than the moon, I have dark circles under my eyes and by the way I feel I must look pretty weak. “I’m not human, I’m a hybrid.” It’s a lot easier saying it in the dark, this way I can’t see her reaction, but the breath in take was very audible. “What? What are you Sapphire?” I saw that one coming, she isn’t being very original. “I’m half vampire and half witch.” I whispered it to her, cuddling into my blankets again as I felt my headache starting to beat again. “Why are you telling me, clearly you wanted to keep it a secret?” She was so right, I never intended to tell anyone about it. The last person I willingly told was Jake and I only told him in order to save him, I was so afraid of what would happen at my fathers house that I wanted to give him a choice before we went there. He chose the wrong path, he decided to still go with me and now he is dead. “Because I’m ill and I’m afraid it will only get worse. I need help from someone that I know I can trust. Someone who won’t take advantage of my weakness.” Might as well be as honest as possible at the moment. “What’s wrong with you?” “Witches has to pay the nature back for the aid of the elements. I’ve been using my magic more than I should have and the moon is especially hard on me this month, taking a bit more than usual.” “I’ve never seen this happen to witches.” How didn’t I not notice her not freaking out about the words, hybrid, witch and vampire? She should have laughed in my face, that is what normal people would do. Now she is talking about witches like she knows. “This isn’t a surprise to you, you know about the supernatural world...What are you?” “It’s better for you not to know okay and even if I wanted to tell you I couldn’t.” I’m laying out all my cards here and she can’t tell me, but it’s okay. “I’m only half a witch, doing things a real witch does. It’s harder on my body. I use to have sisters also hybrids and if we were close to each other we couldn’t feel the pull of the moon, but it’s only me now so I can feel it and it doesn’t feel all that nice.” “I don’t understand what you expect me to do? What can I really do? Tell the moon to stop.” “No I think I just need someone with me, moral support I guess. There isn’t much you can do now, since I blocked out the sun and the sound is okay at the moment. Maybe you can keep the boys down a little when they get home this afternoon...I just really need you here with me.” I guess I missed having someone with me, I miss my sisters. She came and sat right next to me, pulling the blankets over her too. She must have heard the desperation in my voice. “You know when I was younger my mom told me a story about hybrids I never thought that any really exist, I can’t see species mixing. It was more like a rhyme, let me see if I can remember it.” Hope told me.   “Once there was a caster, a beauty to be near. She had golden brown hair and big brown eyes to pair. She lived within a cottage hidden in the forest. She had a terrible secret for which she cared. Her three beautiful babes hidden in nature away from society who didn’t dare care. One stormy night a noise made her aware. Outside her door was a nightmare for which to beware. They only wanted her babes, but she wouldn’t dare. in that cold dark night she fell into deaths snare. Her three babes never to be seen again.”   The story all to real, my story, a story I never expected to hear out of Hopes mouth. “The story isn’t all that correct. It wasn’t a stormy night at all, not even the wind was out and it was her youngest daughter that woke up from hearing the dark knights thought. She woke her mother when she was moving around in the living room staring out at the forest. The girls mother woke her sisters and put a spell on them to make them invisible. The men came and searched the house but couldn’t find the girls, the girls had to watch their mother being beaten to the edge of death and then their house was burnt down with all of them in it, their mothers magic only enough to protect them and not herself so she died in the fire. The three girls made it and somewhere in this world they are still alive.” “How do you know all of that?” “I’m a hybrid, it comes with the territory, like a warning to those who are like me. not that there are many, most supernaturals are too scared to mix species and if it happens is kept a secret. I’ve never met anyone else like me.” “Except your sister, but they’re dead right?” “Yes. I don’t have a family.” “I’m sorry.” “It’s not your fault. Thanks for staying with me, Hope.” “Hey I don’t have anything better to do and us supernatural girls should stick together.” We talked a little more about safer neutral topic and when the boys came home she went downstairs and scared all of them, I’ve never heard this house so quit. She only left once it got dark, she had to get back to the compound, but she promised to be back the next day.
