Chapter 17 Reconciliation

The hospital room was quiet except for the steady beep of the monitor beside Yoseph's bed. Rose sat curled up in the chair she had dragged close to him, refusing to leave his side since he was brought in. The bandage on his arm was a stark reminder of how close things had come to going terribly wrong, and every time she looked at it, her chest tightened all over again.

It had taken hours before Yoseph finally opened up, telling her, piece by piece, about the woman who had once been his mother in name only, about Felix, about the years of coldness he had learned to accept as normal. Rose listened without interrupting, holding his hand the entire time, feeling something in her ache for the boy he used to be.

He really must have gone through a lot in his teenage years, because she wasn't sure she could have pulled through growing up in such a family without breaking. She'd have drowned in depression, Rose thought, watching him carefully.

" After she found out she's been played by Felix, Yoseph continued, she came back crying for forgiveness, using my mother as mediator. My mom actually asked me to forgive them and take her back.” " Tell me, is it worth keeping such a mother?"

Rose shook her head.

“You will support me right?"” You don't think I am a wicked person by cutting her off right?”

“Of course I'll support you, and no, you're not wicked, you're simply choosing peace over hatred and to be honest you're brave. I don't think I'll be able to hang on to this moment.”

“You see, that's why I hid my Identity although I wasn't planned, I just wanted to sort out my feelings and before I knew it things were spiraling. We loved each other and I didn't know how to tell you without making you feel betrayed.”

“Well it's okay, I should have listened to your explanation, I forgive you,” Rose said.

Yoseph nodded, suddenly lifting her up, making her stand on her feet beside the bed, Rose was confused,staring at him blankly.

Now tell what was Felix doing in your house,” Yoseph asked with a hint of anger in his voice.

“Am sorry, I… she took a deep breath trying to calm her emotions before she continued, I didn't know he was your brother. I…”

Yoseph cut her off, “so you're saying if he wasn't my brother, then you can allow him into your house?”

“No..no..no, " Rose hurried to explain, " he's the one that came to me. After we had an argument, he said you beat him up and stopped his collaboration that he wanted me to talk to you.”

“So you felt sorry for him.”

“Am sorry, see I didn't even take it to heart, because I know you weren't that kind of a person, I didn't ask you did I?”

“You've still not answered my question, what was he doing there?”

“Okay, that day I was going to come to you when it suddenly rained, and then he called me.”

“ROSE! Yoseph yelled, you actually gave him your number.”

Rose shook her head. “It's all a conspiracy.”

“He asked me to give him the number so he could call me to see if I had spoken to you about the company. I didn't call him or save the number. I swear,” Rose panicked.

“Okay am listening, continue.”

“He…he.. he asked me out for lunch,” Rose said her voice barely audible but Yoseph heard her.

Staring at her like this with her head lowered and fiddling with her fingers like a guilty child, Yoseph really didn't know what to do to her.

“How could you casually go on a date with a man regardless of whether he's my brother or not.”

“Am sorry it won't happen again, that day he suddenly called me and asked if I was at home, he didn't say anything and hung up after that.”

“How did he know your house?”

“Well he dropped me off after our lunch once, Rose felt even more guilty.”

“Ha..ha you actually entered his car? Yoseph really wanted to strangle her.”

“It won't happen again.”

“Of course it won't happen again, I won't give you the chance.”

Seeing Yoseph was not as angry as he was, Rose plucked up her courage and decided to confess everything at once.

“Actually that day I thought it was you at the door, but when I opened the door it was him and he was all drenched, he said his car broke down nearby and he wanted to stay there till the rain subsided before leaving to find a mechanic.”

“And you believed him?”

“How was I supposed to know it was his plan,I didn't even know he was related to you, you didn't tell me, " Rose defended.

“If you had listened to my explanation that day we would be in this mess, in the future no matter how we argue, we must give each other a chance to explain,” Yoseph said.

Rose nodded, “okay, I am sorry for yelling at you.

So how come his shirt was off as well?

“Well…I…I…I saw that he was drenched and took off his shirt to hang in the bathroom, while I gave him a blanket, and then I made tea for him, I think he must have seen you coming, that's why he…”

Yoseph's face was anything but pleasant,“Rose do you take my words seriously at all or do you just treat them as air.”

“Am sorry, in the future I'll listen to all your words.”

Yoseph wasn't reconciled , “first you entered a man's car and then you let a man into your house even had him take off his shirt.”

“Regardless of whether he was my brother or anybody else. What did I tell you about inviting a man into your house, let's just say there was no me coming in, what if he had forced himself on you? Do you think you can beat him? Who would hear your cry for help in such a heavy rain? How can you be so stupid?”

By this time Rose was crying.

Seeing her crying, Yoseph couldn't help softening his tone. “Don't do something like this again,” he said, pulling her into his arms and patting her head.

“Isn't it all your fault? Rose suddenly got her confidence back and started blaming him, you didn't even call me, you actually kept your words and gave me space, did I tell you I needed so much space, didn't you miss me?”

“Who said I didn't miss you, every day was torture, I restrained the impulse to come see you until that day I could not hold back and the rain just made it perfect,” Yoseph said pulling her to sit on his laps, her legs wrapped around his waist, he moved his lips to her ears.

“Do you know the best time to coax a woman is when it's raining, she won't be able to reject you,” his tongue slides into her ear licking it, he feels her body tremble, he was happy he had just as much effect she had on him on her. I've missed you, he whispered, blowing soft air in her ears, Rose went limp,Yoseph smiled, he knew just where to touch and she'll be all jelly. “Did you miss me?”

“I uhm… before Rose could respond he had already captured her lips in a sizzling kiss. His kiss was anything but gentle, he sucked, licked, bit, Rose head buzzed.

Yoseph flipped her over, pressing her under him. After some time he moved from her lips to her eyes, nose,ears and finally it fell on her neck.

Rose felt all the places he touched scalding hot, threatening to burn,she clung tightly to him, just when she wanted to say something, he bit her neck after sucking for a while, Rose couldn't hold back the moan that escaped her lips, it was painfully sweet. Then his hot tongue slid across her neck licking the place he bit, his hand hovering on her chest, Rose let out another moan.

Yoseph didn't stop, he lifted her shirt, using his hands to draw a circle around her navel. Rose was panting, soon her lips were captured again, his tongue plundering into her mouth.

Rose felt the change in his body and honestly she didn't repulse it in fact she was looking forward to it.
