Maya's Pov “You’re carrying the Alpha’s child.” I froze in the doorway of my apartment, my hand still gripping the handle. Three strangers stood in front of me, but it was the man in the middle who spoke, his voice low and commanding. His eyes were dark, almost black, and his presence filled the entire space like a storm had just rolled in. “What?” I whispered, my voice barely audible. “You heard me,” the man said, stepping forward. His movements were smooth, calculated, like he was used to being in control of everything around him. “You’re carrying the child of the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack. Alpha Kane.” I blinked, my mind racing. The room seemed to tilt on its axis as I processed his words. Alpha? Silver Moon Pack? This had to be some sort of nightmare. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I managed to choke out. “I’m just a surrogate. This is all a mistake.” The man’s eyes softened, but the intensity in them didn’t waver. “I wish that were true,” he said. “But this isn’t a mistake. The moment we caught your scent, we knew who you were. The Alpha’s child is growing inside you. Weren't you told?” “My what?” I took a step back, panic rising in my chest. “Look, I don’t know who you are, but I’m not part of any pack. I’m not... whatever you think I am. If you would please, just leave. You can see I’m in a bit of pain right now” The two people flanking him stayed silent, their expressions unreadable. They were watching me closely, as if waiting for something. My hand instinctively went to the pendant around my neck, and I felt a strange surge of energy the moment I touched it. The man followed my movement. His gaze dropped on the necklace, and his lips pressed into a thin line. “That necklace,” he said quietly. “Take it off.” My fingers tightened around it. “What?” “It’s suppressing your wolf,” he said. “You’re one of us, but your wolf has been hidden, likely by your parents, using that pendant. That’s why you’ve been feeling strange. Your body is trying to wake up, but the necklace is holding it back. The necklace was from your parents, right?” I shook my head, trying to make sense of his words. Suppressing my wolf? This couldn’t be happening. None of this made sense. I was just Maya, a normal woman living a normal life. I wasn’t a wolf. I wasn’t part of any pack. “No,” I whispered. “You’ve got the wrong person.” Before I could react, the man was suddenly in front of me, faster than I thought possible. His hand shot out and yanked the pendant from my neck, snapping the chain in one swift motion. The moment the necklace was gone, the world exploded. The first thing I felt was heat, intense, searing heat coursing through my veins like fire. It spread from my chest to the tips of my fingers, to the soles of my feet, making every nerve in my body scream with sensation. I stumbled backward, gasping for breath, my head spinning. My vision blurred, and I could feel something deep inside me, something wild and ancient, beginning to stir. A low growl rumbled from my throat, and it wasn’t human. It was primal, animalistic, like it had been buried inside me all along, just waiting for the moment it could break free. “What’s... happening to me?” I rasped, clutching my chest. I could feel my heartbeat, strong and steady, pounding in my ears. My senses were on fire. I could hear every tiny sound, smell every scent in the air. The man’s scent hit me next, earthy, raw, and overwhelmingly powerful. The man stepped back, his gaze never leaving mine. “Your wolf is waking up,” he said. “Your parents sealed it away, but now that you’re carrying the Alpha’s child, there’s no hiding it anymore. You are one of us, Maya.” “I’m not...” I tried to protest, but the words died in my throat as a wave of dizziness washed over me. My knees buckled, and I hit the floor hard, my breath coming in short, ragged gasps. The man crouched in front of me, his expression unreadable. “It’s overwhelming at first, but you’ll adjust. This is your true nature. You’re a werewolf, Maya. You’ve always been one.” “No.” My voice was weak, but the denial was instinctual. “I can’t be.” He didn’t respond. Instead, he stood and motioned for the other two to step forward. “We’re taking you to the Alpha.” “No!” I scrambled back, my heart pounding in my chest. “You’re not taking me anywhere.” But before I could react, the other two were beside me, and the world spun as they lifted me off the ground. My body felt heavy, like it wasn’t my own anymore. I could feel the wolf inside me clawing at the surface, trying to break free, but I wasn’t ready. I couldn’t let it out. Not here. Not like this. The man, the leader, gave me one last look before he spoke. “Don’t fight it, Maya. The Alpha will explain everything.” By the time we reached the forest, I was barely conscious. The surge of energy I’d felt earlier had drained me, leaving me weak and confused. The moon hung high in the sky, casting an eerie glow over the trees. The air was thick with the scent of pine and earth. I was placed on the ground, my legs shaky beneath me as I tried to stand. The man grabbed my arm, steadying me. “He’s here.” I lifted my head, and that’s when I saw him. His figure was compelling, God! attractive and in my dismay, I saw how beautiful he was in the dark night. He stood in the shadows, watching me with those piercing eyes, dark and full of something I couldn’t quite place. Power radiated off him in waves, and the air around him seemed to vibrate with energy. “Maya,” he said, his voice deep and resonant, like the growl of a predator. “We’ve been waiting for you.” I opened my mouth to speak, but no words came out. The connection between us hit me like a lightning bolt, searing and undeniable. It was as if I had known him my whole life, as if some part of me had always been waiting for this moment. “I know you’re confused,” he said, stepping closer, his eyes never leaving mine. “But you’re not alone in this. You’re mine. And soon, you’ll understand everything.” I stared at him, my heart racing, my mind still struggling to process everything that had happened. But he came at quickly than I had expected….
