Chapter Sixteen

I make my way downstairs and everyone is so excited to see me. Cynthia is even there to greet me, thank you everyone! I am so grateful for your help especially you Cynthia. I know I asked a lot from you, so I have a gift for you, I pull out a gift basket filled with goodies and I see her eyes swelling up. “Thank you so much, my Lady!” My mother approaches her asking if everything is alright and she confesses that she has been on her own since a child her pack was slaughtered, and her mother hid her during the chaos.

I hug her as tight as I can, how old are you? “I’m turned nineteen today” we all gasp in shock. Alright everyone new plan, we’re throwing Cynthia a birthday party!!!! Everyone screams in excitement and takes off to do their responsibilities when we have a party. Alex, dad, I need to talk to you can we go to your office? “Sure thing, let’s head on up.”

I follow them to Alex’s office, and we make sure the door is closed and locked behind us. “Sweetie, is everything okay?” Yeah, dad, it is. I just have a couple of questions I am hoping you will be able to answer, I say smiling at them. I look at Alex who is still a little scared of me and it hurts but he knew from the day I was born what I was. I guess he thought he would never see it for his own eyes…I clear my throat, I want to start my own pack. I want it to be a branch of the Blackhart park, I want to take in the rogues who have no where to turn too. As you know, Isthar said I can give second chances to rogues and I want to do that, but I know this is not my pack, that is why I came too you.

“I see. Well, I would ask the council but seeing that they are indisposed, and the elders have taken up their responsibilities, I do not see why not. Alex, my son, what is your take on all this?”

“Well, I do not have a problem with it, I will say though, I did see this coming. The day you brought Cassandra home, you said you wanted to help others. I actually have a surprise for you sis, and you are not moving into grandma’s house.  Are you up for a drive?”

What… but I had Cynthia end everyone… Alex interrupts me saying he had them working an incredibly special project. It has been in the works since you brought Cassandra home. I smile as my dad grins ear to ear. How many people know about this? “The entire pack has known and maybe the companies since you bright Cass home.” I look at him confused. “Let’s take that drive, we can take a couple of SUVS so we can get the whole family to see, and your new friends.” As we make our way back downstairs, I see everyone getting ready and packing up the car. What is going on here? I feel Alistairs hands snake around my waist and he kisses my cheek “it’s a surprise, darling.” 

I don’t like surprises, but I guess I have no choice… I hop into the front seat passenger side and Alistair gets behind the wheel, Cynthia is riding with us as well as Bella and Vincent is in a casket in the back of the suv.  Once the other cars start pulling out of the driveway of the park house, Alistair is follows behind. I plug in the six cord and take control of the music and starts blasting the 1975. I begin to sing along to the song playing and I can tell Alistair is enjoying this, seeing another side of me, and tells me I have a beautiful voice. Cynthia is saying she likes the band as well as Bella, Vincent on the other hand is stuck in his casket. I feel bad but I’m glad he chose to come along for this adventure, we haven’t been driving long but I start to feel anxious. I look out to the Forrest to my right and feel something or someone starting at me. I turn the music down a little bit and ask if anyone sense it, “no, I don’t sense anything” said one after the other. I text Cassandra and the other passengers to tell their drivers to speed up.

As the cars begin to speed up something darts across the road in front us making us skid and come to a complete stop. There is a man standing in front of the car and someone rips off my car door. The other cars ahead stop, and I see rogue wolves running at us. The abnormally large creature yanks me from my seat and the man starts laughing. It sends shivers down my spine and Gaia begins growling. I start shifting and then felt a sudden sting sensation in my neck. f**k… I hear them calling my name but I can’t fight, Ali..

“GET AWAY FROM MY MATE!” 

I feel my body go numb as I watch my family fight off rogues and a dark wizard. As the dark wizard comes closer to me I see Aether pick him up by the throat and crushes it. He then turns and runs at full speed to the abnormally large creature and shoves his hand through his chest and rips out his heart. The rogues stop fighting and stand in horror; Aether gives them two choices, join us or live out the rest of your lives as the miserable mutts that you are. Bella makes up a potion to neutralize the paralysis that I am currently under. Aether transforms back into his human form and picks me up from the ground, and turns back to the rogues who are in complete shock. "If you wish to join us and rejoin a pack, follow us, and protect your Luna at all cost! He asks Bella to drive as he cradles me in his arms and and she punches on the gas and the other cars soon follow. 

Alistair, I- I love you. He then turns his head down towards me and smiles, I love you too my darling. Are the rogues following us? "It seems that they are, the need for a pack, and the need for a second chance that only you can provide must be why. Alistair looks forward and smiles, "I will protect you even if it is with my dying breath." I place my hand on his check, please do not say such nonsense, we have so much work to do, I yawn and close my eyes for a quick nap. 

(Alistairs POV)

We are almost there? "Yes, Ali, we are almost there!" She has been out for a while, Gaia must be taking care of her... "It is normal since she went through heat and got hit with a paralysis dart, Ali. Oh my goddess, Alistair look at this place!" I look out the windshield and before my eyes is a mansion twice the size of her old pack house, cottages as far as they eye can see... Gardens, playgrounds, pools, tennis courts, you name it. This place is a second chance for our kind, I feel tears in my eyes begin forming. After all these years, she is still fulfilling her destiny. I take a moment to give thanks to all the gods and goddesses for this opportunity. After some time, the rogues we picked up along the way have made it and drop to their knees in disbelief. Cynthia steps forward and announces herself to the new members and tells her story. 

I gently wake Lilith up, and she jolts up realizing we have come to a complete stop. My goddess! Alistair look at this place, think of all the people we can help, think of the peace we could bring back to our world! She begins twirling in excitement and stops when she notices the rogues who joined us. I watch as she introduces herself and I smile with pride. "Well, it seems you have taken my advice." Isthar I wish you would not sneak up on us like that, I look over at her and she is smiling as always. "My dear child, I am leaving everything I have to the both of you as a wedding gift. You two will be able to take care of everything and still have money left over for your future grand children. I look at her in shock, Goddess is something wrong? 

"You know I loved her as well. She was everything a warrior goddess dreamed of, but she would never be mine. So in order to fulfil her hearts desire, this is my gift to her." 

Isthar, please stay with us after the training, you can have a home here with us. I see tear fall from behind her sun glasses hiding her fiery eyes. "You know what I sacrificed, I can not escape what awaits for me, child. As promised I will train you all and then I will take my leave." Before I know it she is gone and Lilith looks back to me with a sad expression, she heard everything... I run to her and take her in my embrace and tell her we will save our world.
