Chapter fourteen

As I am walking away from the field, I hear Alistair calling my name. I start walking faster, just because he has lived longer than anyone else does not give him the right to coddle me! He finally catches up and begins to lecture me. “Lilith, you exposed yourself to the world, now every supernatural being will be after you!” Alistair, they felt my presence when I gained my wolf… He looks at me trying to deflect my answer. “They did not know where you were until now!” Alistair, my dear husband… I will not discuss this anymore out in the open, I have work to do, so help me or get out of my way. I start walking back to the packhouse as quickly as I can, and I see my guests staring at me in fear and awe.  

I look at them and announce everyone is fine, the situation has been dealt with and I think it is best we retire for the night, as I say this, I can feel Alistairs stare. Thank you! I turn and begin powerwalking through the house and up the stairs to my room. Alistair is right behind me, not saying a word, thank the moon goddess… I have a splitting headache, Gaia is hurt that our mate does not trust us, and I am too. I know Gaia has loved him for a lot longer than me, but why is he acting like this now?

I finally make it to my room, Alistair can you close the door and lock it please? He does as I ask, and I head to the bathroom to turn on the shower. I come back out and I see him staring at me, I have been walking nude everywhere, I can’t help but laugh. I feel so alive, I feel like a different person! “What are you thinking of Lilith?” Oh, nothing, Alistair. Alistair begins raising his voice, “Lilith you are so reckless! How could you think it was okay to fully shift and announce your presence like that to our world?! We are the last of the lycans and now we will have no idea of who or what is coming after us?!”

“Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. My dear sweet Alistair, is that anyway to speak to your wife and mate?”

We both turn and Isthar is standing by my window, staring at him with her devilish smile waiting for a response.

“Ishtar stay out of our business; this is no concern of yours…” He furrows his brows at her letting out a low growl. It sends shivers down my spine and makes Gaia purr.

“My dear sweet child, is that anyway to speak to a goddess?” The fire in her eyes begin to burn brighter and Alistair bites his tongue to refrain from saying anything else. “I come bringing news children, we Elders have assembled a temporary council, we have also gathered intel. They know, what and who you are. This was bound to happen, Alistair. Let me give you some friendly advice, do not coddle your mate, put trust in her as she did for you.”

“I am trying to protect my mate! I can not lose her again!” Alistair falls to his knees and begins weeping.

“My, My, the valiant Alistair has gone soft. Alistair, we gave you power so you can support her, not shelter her from her duties as a champion! We gave you life, and we will take it away if you fail.” I look at her and run to Alistairs side, please Isthar, he knows what he must do. Ali is simply overwhelmed with your most gracious gift you have bestowed upon us.

“I will stay here to train you Lilith, and Alistair. I will begin sorting through the rogues for you. You my dear will give them a second chance, a chance to regain their honor. Well done, my lady. Acting like a true champion already.” She begins clapping her hands and disappears in a fiery tornado.

Alistair look at me, he slowly raises his head, and his eyes meet mine. This is what I was born for, I need you by my side, you are the only one I can trust. “I understand my Lady.” He grabs some of my hair and twirls it between his fingers. He kisses my forehead and gets up to help me up. I look at him and place my hand on his cheek, lets go get cleaned up honey.

After our shower I mindlink Alexander and Cassandra along with the rest of my family to meet me by the two-story house next to the packhouse. Everyone is asking why I brought them down here and questioning me about my true form. Please everybody I need you to listen closely.

*Begins explaining about the meeting with the goddesses in the maze, and what Ishtar has said to me and Alistair.*

After I had gotten everyone caught up, I tell them that Alistair and I will move out of the packhouse and into Grandmas old house. It has the space we need, and I need to set up a larger office, I have work to do. Everyone stands in silence. Now they do not have anything to say. Typical… My mother steps forward, “I trust you Lilith, and I will schedule the move to begin tomorrow.”

Alex: “I will gather the all the Alphas and issue a urgent gathering for you Lilith, we will have to unite the packs. I do not think this will be an easy one.”

Cassandra: “I will ask Bellas coven to reach out to ally covens, for another meeting. We must gather, contact, reach out to any resource!”

Alistair: “I will ask Vincent to do the same, if we do this, we do this as a team.”

I feel my eyes swelling up with tears. You right Ali, if we do this, we do this as a team. Tell them, I do not care what species, or what your relationship is to anyone is. We all have the same enemy; an unknown enemy and we all need to be prepared! 

 I started to hear voices and when I turn around I see some pack members, witches, rogues, and vampires begin kneeling in front of me. All in unison they say "We pledge our selves to thy cause!" A rogue comes forward, if you want we will begin cleaning the house, and we can start the move immediately!" What is your name rogue? "Cynthia, my Lady!" I chuckle, at ease Cynthia, you are the one who spoke up before the challenge? "I am, my Lady." Cynthia, you will take charge of this project, please let my family know if you will require anything and will need anything for you team. I see her eyes light up and my mother summons omegas with cleaning supplies all ready to help. I stand back and Alistair takes me in his arms,  and whispers in my ear, "I am so sorry, and I want you to know how proud I am of you right now." He lets out a seductive growl making me shiver, I feel myself burning up... What is this feeling?
