12: breakfast for two

The next morning I woke up before Carden, he was next to me in bed and I swear I could smell him, he’s smelled amazing.

I didn’t move I just stared at him for a minute, all I wanted was to touch him, but I didn’t know if it was me or this mate bond thingy, and if it was the mate bond then how could I trust my own actions, my own feelings.

I sat bolt up right, my breathing heavy as I climbed out of bed heading to the bathroom, I decided to have a shower.

I had no clue what the time was but it looked so beautiful outside, I wondered if Carden would let me go for a walk later.

However all my thoughts left me when I walked into the shower, as the hot water ran over my skin all I could do was feel.

There were already people up and about, I could feel them as they went about there business, there was someone closer the room, he was tired like he had been up all night and just barely keeping himself awake.

Then I felt him, Carden as sleep started to slip away, his senses coming to life, he could hear the shower as he slowly woke, he was happy, relaxed, at peace.

When I turned I gasped, Carden was standing outside the shower watching me, god he moved fast, there was a frosted glass divider so I knew he couldn’t see my body.

He didn’t move, he just stood, and I also made no sign of moving.

I wanted him, I knew it was the mate bond more then me, but it didn’t seem to matter, I wanted him.

It’s like he senses it because he smiled or rather smirked but I giggled involuntarily, and he must have known he won.

In seconds he was standing in front of me under the shower head, I refused to look down, I knew he was naked but I just couldn’t look yet.

“You’re beautiful.” He said looking into my eyes.

I couldn’t help but giggle, when he said it, I really believed him, no one has ever made me feel special before, not really.

The sun was shining in the window so I decided I might as well ask while he seemed so happy.

“Can I go for a walk outside?” I held my breath waiting for a no but instead he smiled.

“Of course, you’re not a prisoner here el. There are guards everywhere, I don’t see why you wouldn’t be safe.”

I couldn’t have been happier, “besides, I can sense you.”

Carden washed my hair for me, then we got out of the shower and got dressed, he had someone bring up some clothes for me, blue jeans and a t shirt, with a pair of ankle boots.

“Come on, we can go eat in my office if you don’t want to meet everyone now or come back here.” I could feel he wanted me to meet his people or pack, but the thought made me feel sick, I couldn’t imagine what they will think and honestly I didn’t want to know not yet anyway.

“Can we wait until tomorrow?” I asked trying to be cute.

Carden laughed but seemed fine with it, so he held my hand as we walked out of the room, at the end of the hall was the guard I had felt this morning, the tired one and now he was exhausted.

We walked over to the man, he had ginger hair with blue eyes and freckles but he looked friendly. Even now he gave me a smile as he stood and pressed the button for the lift, with a good morning alpha.

“This is Jerry, Jerry this is el.” Carden said.

I smiled, “nice to meet you.”

“And you miss” he nodded his head.

The doors opened revealing a very nice looking lift, but before I got in I looked once again at the guard.

Something was off.

The doors closed leaving me and carden alone, “are all your guards that tired?”

Carden looked confused, “Jerry worked an extra that’s all, I don’t over work my staff or pack members.”

It was a fine answer but I just had to push, “why did he have to work an extra?”

Carden went from content to irritated very quickly and when I looked at him again, he had a look on his face that said don’t ask anymore. However I couldn’t help myself, “I’m just saying he’s tired and he should get some rest, you’re the werewolf king! Why do you need guards anyway? Are you not like super strong or something?”

I know it came out a little bitchy and I know he was still not happy to answer but today I felt better, I didn’t feel like I had to hide as much.

But cardens feelings over took me changing what I thought, he was worried and slightly scared and angry. He was worried about something but he wasn’t saying what.

I turned to him, taking a step in his direction when the doors opened on a lower floor.

“Good morning alpha!” It was the man from yesterday, nick was it.

“Luna!” He bowed his head slightly to me, “I hope you slept well.”

“I did thank you, you’re up early.” I replied.

He laughed then, “yeah I’m sorting out the new shift routine.”

Carden chimed in, “el, breakfast, if we take any longer you will be meeting everyone this morning.” He knew i wanted to sneak down and be back in the room before everyone else was down for breakfast.

I nodded but before we said our goodbyes to nick I had to say, “Jerry upstairs needs to be replaced by someone, he’s exhausted, been awake all night..” Carden started dragging me away while I was still talking but before we reached the door to the kitchen I heard nick yell back.

“Sure thing Luna.” Huh i Kinda like it.

We ended up piling up some plates with everything from sausage and bacon to eggs and pancakes and took it all upstairs.

When we came out of the lift Jerry was gone and in his place was a women with blonde hair braided at the back.

“Hi I’m el.” I said as I walked out of the lift.

She stood, “I’m leigh.”

We got to our room and Carden put all the food on the little table in the sitting area.

I didn’t realised how hungry I was, and ended up eating enough for two.

The whole time Carden smiled, I knew he was watching me but I couldn’t seem to care, the food was good and I was starving.

After breakfast Carden got a call on his phone, after he was done he came over to me as I was finishing my coffee with a guilty look on his face.

“Okay I have to go see a friend, nick will be around if you need anything and you are free to go for a walk or anything else you want, I will be back in an hour.”

He kissed my head and left as I tried to cover up my disappointment.

But he was right, I should go for a walk, some fresh air is just what I needed.
