I had just topped off my coffee when the lights began to flicker.
Once.
Twice.
Then everything went eerily quiet.
The screens dimmed.
Phones buzzed with unfinished messages. For a brief moment, the only thing you could hear in the open-plan office was the heavy silence.
Then the alarm blared.
Not a fire alarm.
Something worse.
An internal security breach alert.
“SYSTEM THREAT. FLOOR ISOLATION IN PROGRESS.”

Everyone shot up at once, heads turning toward the overhead monitors as red text flashed across the emergency banner. Security lockdown. Code 6.
I had no idea what that meant.
But I recognized panic when I saw it.
And it was spreading like wildfire.
Someone bumped into me. I heard another voice yelling about locked elevators. The metal doors at both end
