~ Lila ~ --- I had just topped off my coffee when the lights began to flicker. Once. Twice. Then everything went eerily quiet. The screens dimmed. Phones buzzed with unfinished messages. For a brief moment, the only thing you could hear in the open-plan office was the heavy silence. Then the alarm blared. Not a fire alarm. Something worse. An internal security breach alert. “SYSTEM THREAT. FLOOR ISOLATION IN PROGRESS.” --- Everyone shot up at once, heads turning toward the overhead monitors as red text flashed across the emergency banner. Security lockdown. Code 6. I had no idea what that meant. But I recognized panic when I saw it. And it was spreading like wildfire. Someone bumped into me. I heard another voice yelling about locked elevators.
