Naomi's POV I woke up very early in the morning and my environment was just still, as if life was coming to an end. Not the peaceful kind. The kind where even the machines try to hum quietly, as if afraid any sudden sound might break the air. My body felt heavy—rooted. The weight of my belly was different now. Not just physical, but… imminent. I looked around if I was alone in the room. And then I saw him. Raymond. He was Slouched in the hospital armchair, his elbows on his knees, hands clasped beneath his chin. His eyes were red.
