Naomi’s POV I stared at the photo. Rachel, she was dressed in white. Standing in a garden I didn’t recognize. Then I saw Miranda beside her—smiling, Trusting. O my poor baby, what does she know? I wanted to scream. I wanted to shatter the phone in my hand and drive straight through every lie I’d ever believed. But I couldn’t, I had to think, Fast. “Naomi.” I turned to see Beatrice stepping into the hospital waiting room, her face pale but composed. “They’ve stabilized Raymond,” she said gently. “He has a mild concussion, a cracked rib… but he’ll be okay.” The breath I’d been holding finally released. “I need to see him.” “Five more minutes, and they’ll let you in.” I nodded, then showed her the photo on my phone.
