“You think I don’t understand what you’re trying to do?” William snarls, grabbing my arm so roughly that I almost scream. “William!” I glare up at him, then at his big, fat fingers wrapped so mercilessly around my upper arm. “You’re crossing your limits. Let go of me!” “Why are you always running, Amy?” His voice drops lower, almost a growl, but I can hear the frustration laced beneath it. “Why are you always ignoring me?” “Maybe because I don’t want anything to do with you,” I snap, trying to yank my arm free, but his grip only tightens. My skin burns where his fingers dig in, and panic starts clawing its way up my throat. “Come on,” he murmurs, his tone dripping with fake sweetness now, but his eyes… they’re anything but kind. “Don’t be like that.
