Chapter 21I started to shout after her until I realised just how futile that was, so I jumped out of bed and followed her to the bathroom, listening at the door in an attempt to gauge what she was doing. Soon enough I heard the toilet flush and then I heard her blowing her nose.
I tried the door and found that it was wasn’t locked, so I opened it gently and peered around the door to find Jess sitting on the edge of the bath crying, but she looked furious.
‘Go away!’ she shouted as she saw me, and then she turned her head so that she couldn’t see my reply.
