Chapter 24Jess looked at me, looked back at Michelle, then back at me. I had just opened my mouth to repeat what Michelle had said when I saw a look of determination cross Jess’s face. She placed a single finger against my lips to stop me speaking, took a deep breathe and turned to Michelle saying ‘Oh I’m very sorry, did you say something? I’m deaf so I don’t know people are speaking to me unless I can see their lips.’
