CHAPTER 44: I'm Not Worth That Risk

916 Words

LIAM'S POV I took Amy and Britney back to my penthouse in my car. I could still recall her face vividly—the shock, the pain, the defeat—etched large upon her tear-stained cheeks as she stood immobile among all those faces. Bottles, words, cameras, curses, and she just stood there taking it all. I should have arrived sooner. She sat curled up on the living room couch, knees up to her chest, arms wrapped tight around them, Britney sat next to her, eyes darting between Amy and I, daring me to say something and make sense of everything. I paced the room, with clenched fist before stopping in front of them. "Amy." I started, resisting the storm brewing within me. "What were you thinking, for goodness' sake?" She flinched, and raised her swollen eyes to look at me. "Don't."
