CHAPTER FOUR

1164 Words
STRANGE ENCOUNTER LYKAINA'S POV The events of this morning were still playing behind my eyelids, I could still feel the pleasurable current that coursed through my back. But all those things are not quite what I need to be thinking about now, because I am royally late! I hurried to the administrative office and met with the bursar, to whom I submitted all my payment receipts. Grandma made sure she paid for everything in full, I don't know where I'd have been without her. After I was through with the bursar, I went to the academic office where I collected my admission letter and my daily lecture timetable. "You are quite late, Miss Thorne, the first lecture is currently going on. You better hurry." The lady who was giving out lab coats said to me in a very unpleasant manner. "I apologize, Miss Sofia, it was traffic. It won't happen again." I say snatching my lab coat from her hands. As I turn to leave, I catch her whispering to herself, "Rude girl with very weird hair." I've always had an unusual ability to hear even the faintest whispers, no matter the distance. Anger burns through me. How dare she comment on my appearance? I spin back around, my eyes locking on hers. "You know, Miss Sofia, I couldn't help but hear what you whispered," I say, my voice steady. "You called me a rude girl with very weird hair." The end of the lecture alarm rings then, piercing the tense silence and breaking off what would have been a very unpleasant confrontation. I turn around and walk out of her office. The emotions coursing through me at the moment are chaotic. My bizarre morning left me feeling sad and energetic at the same time. I am pulsing with energy and no way of releasing it and now Miss Sofia has added a special blend of anger to this chaos. I walk rapidly through the corridors reading the labels and trying to find my next lecture hall. Missing my first lecture already doesn't speak well for me. I have to work harder to make up for my tardiness today. I pass the cafeteria and decide to make a quick stop. A cup of hot coffee is what I need to make this ugly cloud of anger dissipate and calm myself down to make the most of today. "A cup of coffee please, oh and make it black thank you," I say to the cute girl in pigtails behind the counter. "Okay, would you like anything to go with it, an almond croissant maybe?" The cute girl says with a wide smile; I guess she is hoping to convince me to spend an extra cento. "No, thank you. Just the coffee, please." "Okay, that will be 5 cento." I pay, then move my lab coat and my books to my left hand while I take the cup of coffee with my right hand. I continue my hurried search for my second lecture hall, this time feeling armed and ready to take on anything. I continued down the corridor until I came upon a hall that had the Hematology department written on it. I guess I am in the right corridor since my second lecture is Anatomy. In my excitement and hurry, I turned to take the left corridor close to the haematology hall, and I collided with a very solid structure; a hand tried to steady me, but I couldn't quite find my balance as everything I was carrying in my hand was threatening to fall especially my coffee. In this chaos, with the hand holding me still insistently trying to keep me from falling on my ass, I end up letting my books and labcoats fall to save my coffee but ended up pouring it on the structure before me. "What a blasted morning it has been today. I get your point, universe; let me be already!" I raise my hands, looking upwards and snap to no one in particular but with the frustration and anger of how out of plan my morning has been going. "Ohhhhhhh, a pretty-looking girl has soiled your prized jacket, your Highness." A voice says with a snicker. I look up to find that the structure I actually collided with is a person, a very handsome, breathtaking, muscular and very tall man, with two other men standing behind him looking quite handsome and muscular as well. The one in black looked more beautiful than handsome, though. 'They look like Greek gods and quite expensive too.' I think to myself as I take in their shoes, designer wristwatches and their clothes. Immediately, my eyes landed on the clothes of the one standing before me, who obviously tried to save me from falling; I gasped out in horror. On his very expensive pristine white jacket was my coffee. "Oh! Oh my gosh, I am so sorry." I gasp while bringing out my handkerchief to dab at the coffee stains. Suddenly, the beautiful man in black takes a deep breath, comes closer and begins to sniff my hair, which is a very strange thing for anybody to do. "Hey! I am sorry, alright, I was in a hurry for my next lecture. This accident wasn't my intention. Sniffing my hair is a bit weird too, don't you think?" I ask, moving away from the hair-smelling man. "Who are you?" the breathtaking guy in the stained white jacket asks. His voice is so beautiful too. I really don't have much experience with men but this man is getting me attracted to him so effortlessly, and I don't even know him, coupled with the fact that I just reduced any chances of endearing myself to him to zero after dumping my coffee on his expensive jacket. "I am a student in this university like yourself, if I may presume; I am truly sorry for getting your jacket stained." I pull out my contact card from my pocket and pass it to him. "Here, this is my contact address; send the jacket to that address, and I will have it dry-cleaned for you." He takes it in his beautiful hands, turning it around to examine it carefully. I bend down to gather up my books and lab coat from the floor. I guess the universe wants me to face my day without any caffeine to fuel me. I have no other option than to make the most of it. I turn to the very handsome and beautiful men and say in my most cheery voice, "I wish you gentlemen the best of the day. I have a lecture to catch. Bye." After this, I doubt that my morning can get any stranger. "What is your name," Mr. Breathtaking asks in his sexy voice, making butterflies flutter violently in my belly. I look up straight into his eyes and tell him my name with the best smile that I can muster. "My name is Lykaina Thorne."
