Isabella opened her eyes, cold gnawed at her skin. Riccardo was no longer lying beside her. She was on the bed alone, naked and cold. She slowly sat up in bed having a feeling of disappointment mixed with uncertainty. There were no traces of Riccardo anywhere, only his scent. She rubbed the part of the bed he had slept on, looking at it, wondering why he left without letting her know. The drapes billowed in the wind, she looked out of the window. It was still dawn and the city lights were still shining against the blue sky of the awakening morning. She got down from the bed and shuddered when her bare foot touched the cold floor.
