After Merlon was sure that Lilly was out of his way, he searched for her. Starting at her room. But she was not there, so he followed the faint scent she left behind with a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. He loved the hunt. His dragon stirred in excitement and stood at full attention. That was a rare thing because normally Mortiferus would be like a lazy cat. He needed to be fed and needed his freedom sometimes and he was pretty itchy when it came to his hoard, but only when it came to s*x he would show interest in a female. Feeling him at attention without them even having seen her eyes was more than unusual. It has never happened before. The stronger her scent got the calmer Mort got. Merlon was surprised that her scent grew the strongest at the clinic's own library. He let his eyes wander in the for a clinic sizeable room. It was held in light yellow pastel colours with indirect lighting. Big well-sorted bookshelf's filled with all kinds of literature and many cosy corners filled with couches, chaise lounge and wing-chairs. A human probably wouldn´t have found her, but after a deep inhale and some seconds focused on his hearing, he spotted her in the far end corner in a big cosy red wing-chair her feet up on a fitting stool. The wing-chair was facing the big floor-length windows which gave a mirror image of her cuddled in that big chair, a tea at the side table and a book in her lap. Her neck gracefully bowed down to the pages. Silently reading and captivated by the story. Did he felt a strange tug in his heart, jealousy? Was he jealous of the attention the story got? No not possible! He felt Mortiferus puff amused in the back of his mind.
He grinned and strode over to her. Looking down on her he said “Hi beautiful, what are you reading?” and waited for her to react, to look at him...and waited and waited...nothing happened.
She kept reading! A little irritated he crouched down right beside her. And again she didn´t react as he thought she would. He wanted her to look at him but instead, her eyes widened for a split second before she closed them with a deep inhale. Growing irritated and impatient he said “Would you please look at me!” she smiled, a faint sad smile and she just shook her head. This was frustrating! Here SHE was, the one he waited for so long and she withheld him her eyes and her voice! He managed a grumbly “Why?” to get out of his throat and mouth. Her whisper surprised him “because I don´t want it to end so soon.” His hearing was fine and like every shifter, he has something near of super hearing, but her answer didn´t make any sense to him. Giving in to the urge to touch her to connect with her, he reached out to her hand and the tingles went through him validating his hopes and suspicion. Her eyes flying open with utter surprise written in them and connected instantly with his eyes. It was like all air had left his lunges and he has forgotten how to breathe. Her eyes are fascinating so many feelings in that sad soul of hers, the colour changing with every emotion, enchanting him pulling his soul to hers, entwining his being with hers. Her sadness, hurt and hopelessness tugged hard on his heartstrings and the need to protect her from all those dark feelings rose in him with might. She blushed ever so slightly “You are real…not a dream?!...I´m not hallucinating…!” Taking a deep breath as to wake up she shortly shook her head and broke the contact with her eyes and her hand. Merlon inhaled again remembering how to breathe. Taking deep breaths his brain started working in overdrive... Wait did she say something about hallucinating? Why would she think that? Why would she break the contact with him? Why those dark feelings? What does she need? So many questions… but he will find answers he promised himself.
Regaining contact by taking her hand again he said: "Please let me take you to dinner?" It was more of a statement than a question
