Rose took a long shower and was a little mad at herself, why would she be so rude? Should she go now or rather later to the dining hall? Would she want to meet him again? What if he had found another companion for the evening? Would that bother her? → yes, it would...But WHY? What made her so dazzled that she forgot her book? She couldn't admit to her self that the answer was his smile and his deep pooled grey eyes.
All those questions and much more buzzing and whirling in her mind. With a sigh, she decided to wear a nice blue long dress with long sleeves and a cardigan with her blue ballerinas, nothing fancy at the contrary more in the line of comfortable. Her pendant necklace and studded diamond earrings as her only jewellery, she decided to just face whatever situation may come. She decided to go now because she was hungry and postponing situations even difficult ones were not her style. Lastly, she knew that she must tend to her needs, like eating, and nurse herself because there is no one to do it for her or to take care of her. She has always been strong and wouldn´t start to be weak now only because of a stunning male! Even acknowledging that she never have felt anything like this before. With those thoughts in mind, she opened the door of her “room”, that is the wrong term “suite” was more fitting she thought while stepping into the hallway.
Closing her door she couldn´t believe her eyes, HE walked straight towards her, again with that nearly blinding smile on his face. She had not much time to take in the sight before her and a sight to be seen he definitely was. His tall 6,4 frame and well-proportioned body almost like one of those beautiful chiselled muscular male marble statues come to life. The posture nearly majestic, he carried himself like someone who stands tall and with both feet planted firmly on the ground in life. But his stride told her of efficiency, smooth, almost predatory with energetic and strong movements. His broad shoulders in a dark blue undoubtedly tailored suit, the white suit-shirt buttoned up with a matching blue silk tie and dark brown shoes he looked like he could have jumped right of a GQ Magazine. His lightly tanned face freshly shaved, the grey eyes friendly but firm...Stopping before her he said: “Now that your attire is no longer a problem, I would be honoured if you would dine with me and just to be clear and avert any misunderstandings you can´t intrude because I wont have any other companion to dine with.” With these words, he took her hand put it into the crook of his strong arm walking with her in the direction of the dining hall. Engaging her into a light conversation by starting to introduce himself as Merlon du Monte making sure that there was no possible way to back out of his charming company. Rose was a little bit overpowered by this blindingly good looking hunk of a man, his suit fitted him perfectly and the dark blue colour of it matched her dress what irritated her even more. But not forgetting her manners she introduced herself to him as he did to her. In her head racing questions like a merry-go-round. Who is he? Why is he even talking to me? What is he doing here? Why must he be like a dream come true? How long will he be here? Do I want to know? Why is his hand at the small of my back so warm, comforting and giving me a secure feeling? Why does it feel like the warmth from his hand flowed directly into her heart? Why could she forget the burning in her lungs? So many and more questions were in her head and she chose only a few during their meal to be answered.
When they entered the dining-room their entrance made heads turn, but Rose was sure that it was mostly him and his radiating powerful presence that caused it. Letting her choose where to sit she discovered that he was a man of the old school. It seemed to be natural that he moved her chair for her and she discovered that it felt good to have someone to do those little things.
He was such a wonderful, attentive, considerate and easy companion for dinner and their various conversations. She tried to find a fault in him, the whole evening she tried to find it but the only fault she found was that he had none. He was funny, held the conversation light, seemed interested in various topics, without being intrusive or boring. As the saying goes “time flies in good company” hours later after this delicious meal Rose felt her self getting tired. As if he sensed it he took her arm and escorted her back to her room deliberately matching her pace. As they arrived at her Door he just gave her a kiss on the back of her hand and stepped back. Already missing the warmth of the closeness she retired.
