Heavy footsteps descend the stairs. Ezra appears first. Alpha Christopher follows closely behind him. Christopher’s expression is cold and tight, and his polished shoes look absurd against the damp stone floor. “I want satisfaction,” Christopher says without greeting. “For what,” I ask, rising slowly. “For what you did to my niece.” I stare at him through the bars. “She attacked me.” “That is irrelevant,” he snaps. “Open the cell.” My heart starts racing, and I see the tension ripple through Declan’s shoulders as he stands.
