CHAPTER 5 CLASH OF ALPHAS

735 Words
The air turned suffocating. Aria stood frozen between them, her heart pounding violently in her chest as two powerful men faced each other—one from her past, and one who threatened to change her future. Logan’s gaze hardened as he took a step forward. “You didn’t answer my question.” Kael didn’t move. Didn’t flinch. But the forest seemed to react to him, shadows stretching as if drawn to his presence. “I don’t answer to you,” Kael said calmly. Logan’s jaw tightened. His aura flared instantly, the familiar Alpha pressure filling the clearing. Aria felt it— But it didn’t affect her the way it used to. Before, Logan’s presence alone would have forced her head down in submission. Now? She barely felt it. And that realization shocked her. Logan noticed. His eyes snapped back to her, confusion flashing across his face. “Aria… come here.” It wasn’t a request. It was a command. Aria’s body tensed— But she didn’t move. A dangerous silence fell. Logan’s expression darkened. “I said, come here.” Still… nothing. The bond between her and Kael pulsed faintly, steadying her, grounding her. “I’m not part of your pack anymore,” she said, her voice quiet but firm. The words hit harder than a slap. Logan’s eyes burned. “You think you can just walk away?” “I already did.” For a split second, something like regret flickered across his face—but it vanished just as quickly, replaced by anger. “You belong to me,” Logan growled. Kael moved. One step forward. And suddenly, the entire atmosphere shifted. “No,” Kael said, his voice low and deadly. “She doesn’t.” The ground beneath them seemed to hum with power. Logan’s lips curled into a cold smile. “And who exactly are you to say that?” Kael’s golden eyes gleamed in the dim light. “Her mate.” The word landed like thunder. Logan froze. Then laughed. A dark, disbelieving sound. “You expect me to believe that?” he sneered. “She’s an omega.” Kael’s expression didn’t change. “You rejected her,” he said. “That bond is broken.” Logan’s laughter died instantly. Silence. Heavy. Dangerous. “You don’t get to take what’s mine,” Logan said, his voice dropping. “I didn’t take anything,” Kael replied. “You threw her away.” That did it. Logan’s eyes flashed— And in the next second, he shifted. Bones cracked. Muscles expanded. Fur burst through skin as a massive black wolf lunged forward with a feral snarl. “Logan, stop—!” Aria shouted. Too late. Kael didn’t move until the very last second. Then— He shifted. Faster. Deadlier. More terrifying. His form was larger than any wolf Aria had ever seen, darker, stronger—something ancient and powerful radiating from him. A Lycan. The two beasts collided mid-air with a thunderous impact, shaking the ground beneath them. Aria stumbled back, her heart racing as claws slashed and teeth snapped. Logan attacked with brute force, fast and aggressive. But Kael… Kael was controlled. Precise. Dominant. Within seconds, it became clear— Logan was outmatched. Kael pinned him to the ground with brutal strength, his claws digging into Logan’s shoulders as a low, lethal growl rumbled from his chest. The fight was already over. “Yield,” Kael commanded. Logan snarled, struggling beneath him. “Never.” Kael’s eyes flickered briefly toward Aria. And something dangerous shifted. “If you don’t,” Kael said quietly, “you will die.” Aria’s breath caught. “Kael… don’t,” she whispered. For a moment, everything stilled. The forest. The wind. Even the tension. Kael held Logan in place… then slowly released him. Logan staggered back, shifting into human form, his chest rising and falling heavily. His eyes burned with humiliation—and something darker. This wasn’t over. Not even close. He looked at Aria one last time. “This isn’t finished,” he said coldly. “You’ll regret this.” Then he disappeared into the shadows. Silence followed. Aria stood there, shaken, her emotions tangled beyond understanding. Slowly, Kael turned back to her. His gaze softened—but only slightly. “You still think you’re just an omega?” he asked. Aria didn’t answer. Because deep down… She was starting to realize the truth.
