My body was surrounded by Marri, and I had to admit it was pleasant. She smelled like strawberries and her hands felt good against me. Maybe because I was hurting and wanted someone to tell me I was worth something, maybe form the liquor. Probably both.
I twisted around in her arms to stare straight into her stunning eyes. “I was rejected by someone, nothing new.”
She licked her lips, knowing mine were so close. “Then, let me help you forget about it.”
“Alright.” I said, knowing my cheeks were red. Girls like Marri never paid me any attention back in the human world. I say that because I don’t even feel like I’m on the same planet anymore.
I laid my head on her shoulder, letting her hug me close as I tried to forget what Jacek said to me two hours ago. I took in the strawberries and felt warmth spread through me. This was nice, this is what I wanted with Jacek, but apparently that wasn’t going to happen. Marri was comforting, and I could pretty much feel her wanting me. Was it wrong for me to give in? I laid everything out for him, and he pushed it back at me without hesitation.
“Cairyn?”
I looked up to Marri and knew what she was going to do, and I wasn’t going to stop her. Marri’s hand slid behind my head, gently pulling my lips to hers. Her lips tasted just like she smelled, and I was lost in them. The liquor helping me maintain my confidence as I let her in. My tongue moved across hers, feeling her chest rumble with satisfaction. Her other hand slid down my side to my hip, causing me to moan into her at the seductive action. We stayed like that for a minute or two, and when we finally pulled from each other I was panting while she had a smile on her face.
“He’s watching us.” She whispered to me before she put her forehead to mine.
I knew. I was just trying my best to keep from crumbling in front of him. “Yeah, stay like this with me?”
“Sugar, I’ll stay with you forever if that’s what you wanted.” Marri said, leaning down to kiss my neck one more time.
Third P.O.V.
Casey groaned as he took a drink from his cup. “They look…friendly.”
Jacek let out a deep breath, looking away. “Marri has always gone for what she’s wanted.”
“This doesn’t bother you? Like at all?” Casey asked, trying to not push his luck with Jacek.
It did. More than Jacek wanted it too. He knew he hurt Cairyn tonight, hurt her more than anyone else had done. He promised that he wouldn’t, yet here they were. He shoved her right out of his arms and into the arms of the stunning Marrison’s. He wanted to be able to do those things they were doing, but his father wasn’t going to let Cairyn go. Especially now he has smelled her on him. He didn’t want to risk her like that, in turn, he was going to lose her. Lose her to Hexic’s damn sister. When he felt her lips on him out on that field, he felt something he had never felt before. Love. It was her love for him, and now he was going to break her of him.
Casey could feel the anger rising off Jacek as they watched Cairyn and Marrison. Then, they both watched as Marrison leaned in and kissed Cairyn. “Oh, what the f**k…”
Jacek’s knuckles turned white with his anger, but there was nothing he could do. All of this was his fault. He had to just sit there and watch as Marri replaced him.
“Jacek, I feel like you’re a step away from killing someone. Do you wanna leave? We don’t have to stay here and watch the two of them.” Casey suggested.
“No, I told her I was going to be here for her. Even if I messed things up with Cairyn, I still need to make sure she is safe.” Jacek said with a deep breath in his lungs.
Casey nodded, but something was bothering him. “I don’t get it. Marrison has had three days to see Cairyn before, at school there has been countless amounts of times we’ve walked by each other, but all of a sudden she approaches Cairyn? Something doesn’t feel right about this, Jacek.”
“I know.” He said, never taking his eyes off the little human.
“Oh, so that’s why you didn’t want to leave. As perceptive as ever, dude.” Casey said with a smile. “Why did Gwyneth bring Hexic? He could have ridden with me. I was even going to offer, but she beat me too it.”
Jacek glanced over to Casey for a split second. “You don’t know?”
“Know what?” Casey asked, turning to give Jacek his full attention.
He shrugged a little, watching everything around Cairyn. “They are sleeping together.”
At that Casey choked on his drink and began coughing to get air to his lungs. “Your joking, right?”
Jacek shook his head. “Do I look like the type to joke around?”
“Well, with Cairyn you do, but with others? Yeah, I guess not.” Casey said roughly as he tried to get his breathing back to normal. “How do you know?”
“I can smell them on each other.” He simply said, seeing something catch his eye. He knew something was up, and set down the cup that Casey had brought him.
Cairyn’s P.O.V.
“Marri? What do you keep looking at?” I asked raising an eyebrow. For the past ten minutes, she has been glancing at something over my shoulder, and I was starting to get curious.
She smiled a little at me. “I have a confession to make. You so sweet I can’t do this to you anymore. The only reason I came over here was to make my ex jealous. I’m really sorry, Cairyn. I saw how upset you were in the parking lot after you got off Jacek’s bike, and thought maybe we could use each other to make our partners jealous. I want my ex back, and I was sure you want Jacek to be in my stead. I really am sorry for using you, especially after everything you’ve done for my brother.”
I was surprised, but not that much. Because everything she said about me was right. I wanted Jacek, and no amount of kissing anyone else was going to change that at this moment. “It’s okay. I completely understand. But hey, if we’re going to make your girl jealous, we better get at it. At least before she leaves with someone else.”
“You want to still help me? After I just admitted to using you?” Marri asked, touching the side of my face gently.
“I want someone to at least get the one they want. Even if it won’t be me. So, let’s get your girl back.” I said with a wink.
She nodded. “Thank you, Cairyn. You know, if I can’t get my girl back, I’m so going to ask you out.”
I giggled. “Whatever.”
With that I twisted around to place my back against her chest, using my his to rub against hers while I danced. I heard her suck in a breath as her hands roamed all over my body. I felt her hand tilt my head to the side to expose my neck to her. She trailed her tongue across my throat before she extended her fangs lightly nipped my delicate skin. I let out a soft moan while closing my eyes.
“Don’t you dare mark that human, Mar!”
My eyes shot open as I was yanked out of Marrison’s grasp. I collided with a body, and inhaled a citrusy scent that was pleasant, but not sour. The scent was intoxicating, and for some reason I was starting to get sleepy. I looked up to see a tall girl with short pin straight copper hair and light hazel eyes glaring over my head.
Marri sighed and held out her hand. “Give me my human back.”
“She’s not your human.”
I knew that voice, it both soothed my body and yet hurt my heart. I glanced over my shoulder to see Jacek standing there with an irritated expression on his face.
Marrison smirked over to him. “Says who?”
“Mar, I can’t believe you were going to mark her. Did I not mean anything?” The girl who had me locked in her arms pleaded.
“Let her go.” Jacek said simply taking another step forward.
My head was foggy, and I felt like I had taken an ecstasy pill the longer I was touching this girl. “I think I’m getting high down here.”
Marrison’s whole face changed. “Lusa, let her go. She’s a human, you’re going to OD her. If not to me, then give her to Jacek. Please.”
“You really care for this human girl?” Lusa asked, hurt by the worried tone in Marri’s voice.
“I do. She’s one of my brother’s only friends. Please, don’t hurt her.” Marrison begged.
Jacek huffed. “I’m done asking.”
He vanished, then appeared directly in front of Lusa. He yanked me out of her arms before grabbing Lusa and tossing her towards Marri. I nuzzled into him, as he glared over to the two women.
“Don’t ever put her in danger like that again, Marrison. You know better than that.” He said before disappearing with me still hugging onto him.
When I opened my eyes, we were somewhere deeper in the forest. It was dark, but with the moon full and high in the sky I was still able to see. I then realized what I was doing and pushed myself away from Jacek. The memories of his rejecting me came flooding back.
“No. Why did you bring me here?” I asked, holding myself as I tried to control all my f****d-up emotions.
He let out a deep breath. “You were getting high from Lusa’s ability and I didn’t want you to do things you would regret while intoxicated like that.”
I clicked my tongue at him. “Wouldn’t be the first thing I would regret tonight.”
“We need to talk about that.” Jacek said gently.
“No. I don’t want to talk about it. You said enough.” I leaned up against a massive tree trunk to keep myself from falling over vines and roots.
Jacek shook his head at me. “At least let me explain why.”
“Whatever, Jacek. Go ahead.”
He looked conflicted, but I wasn’t going to give in without a fight.
“I told you that my father wasn’t a good guy. That was kind of a lie. He’s a monster. The first night I went home after meeting you, he could smell you on me. He beat the f**k out of me, Cairyn. All to get me to tell him about you. Every night when I come home and your scent is lingering on my clothes or skin, he attacks me in hopes I’ll reveal something about you. I need for you to be safe, even if it’s safe from me and my father. The closer you are to me, the more we touch, the more he can find out about you. I told you we couldn’t be together because of him, not because I don’t want you. Do you realize how hard it is to be around you and not reciprocate your feelings back? I’ve tried to stay quiet, not say a lot to keep the distance, but it’s not working.” Jacek said so low, I almost didn’t hear the last part.
My shoulders fell. “Your father doesn’t scare me, Jacek. You know what scares me? Losing you does. I don’t give a rat’s ass about your father doing anything to me, I care about him hurting you. If me being out of your life is what it’s going to take for him to leave you alone, then I’ll just make sure I stay away from you. That way he-“
Before I finished my sentence, Jacek flashed and appeared right in front of me. I was up in the air with my back against the tree and his lips crashed into mine. My legs wrapped around his hips as I allowed him into my mouth, running my tongue against his in delight. This is what I wanted.
My hand grasped his hair tightly when he molded my body against his. I could feel the heat of him though my clothes, and I decided I was wearing too many of them. I let out a little moan when I felt his fangs against my tongue, causing his whole-body tense against me. My center was already wet, and I was desperate to know what it was like to be taken by him. I have no idea how long we were there tasting each other for, but when he pulled back from me I was panting and completely out of breath. I nearly giggled when my eyes met fully black ones, at least it was nice knowing I wasn’t the only one aroused.
Jacek’s voice was husky and low. “How is it you get aroused so easily?”
I blushed a very deep shade of red. “Wait, those succubi were telling the truth? Most all Immortals and Demi Gods can scent out or feel things like that?”
“It’s true.” He said leaning in to drown out Marri’s scent on my neck with his own. “I bet your about two kisses away from completely soaking through your jeans.”
I have never heard Jacek this expressive before. It was unusual, but damn hot. He was true about the soaking thing too, except I was sure I was already drenched. “What are you doing Jacek?”
He left kisses all over my skin, and in between he blew on my delicate flesh. “Marrison left her scent all over you, and I intend on removing it.”
I trembled against him. “A little possessive, are we?”
“Hmm...” He mumbled against me.
When he was done removing Marri’s scent and placing his own he leaned back to see me smirking at him.
“What are you looking at?” I said feeling the red return to my cheeks.
Jacek’s eyes traveled back down to my neck. I can’t believe Marrison was going to mark you.
I giggled a little. “You know, it was all a rouse.”
What was? He asked seizing both my wrists in one strong hand and pinned them above my head.
“Marri wanted to make her ex jealous and used me since I looked like an easy target.” I reassured, but something was telling me he wasn’t seeing what I saw.
Jacek raised an eyebrow. I saw you two the whole time, and I wasn’t talking about that. I was talking about her being tempted to place her mark on you. She lightly nipped at your neck, that’s called a test spot. Cairyn, she wasn’t joking. Her fangs were out and she was emitting her pheromones all around, letting all Immortals know what she was about to do. That’s why I showed up to get you. Plus, your anything but an easy target.
My eyes went wide. “Wait your serious. Marri was about to sink her fangs into my neck? What would that of meant?”
“That you would have belonged to her indefinitely. And all of us other Immortals would know it as soon as we saw your mark and scented you out. Your neck would scar and you would smell mostly like whatever Immoral masked you with their scent.” He said running his hand down my side.
I let out a little noise that was half a whimper and half a moan. “I would have been pissed. I only knew her for ten minutes, and she was ready to sink her fangs in me? I must have some effect on you Immortals and Demi Gods.”
My voice came out teasingly, but the look on Jacek’s face was more serious. I would have lost it if Marrison would have marked you without asking. It’s wrong for any Immortal to do so.
“So chivalrous, Mr. Bad Wolf. Or should I be calling you a cat instead of a wolf?” I bit down on my bottom lip.
You can call me whatever you feel like, dolcezza. Jacek whispered in my mind seductively.
Seeing and hearing him like this is what I wanted. I was so stupidly happy I could hardly contain myself. “What does that mean, by the way? I’ve always been curious.”
It means sweetness in Italian. He leaned in to kiss all over my neck and chest again.
I giggled. “It sounds better in Italian.”
Hmm… Jacek hummed as I felt him pull at my skin a little.
“Will you answer my question from before?”
He glanced up to my face, planting two more light kisses to my lips. What question?
“Have you ever thought about it? Me and you? Remember, you answered my question with a question.” I watched a sly smile appear on his gorgeous face.
Why don’t I show you what all I’ve thought about?
