Lina, seeing Majid kneeling with a flashy golden ring in front of her, was about to accept his proposal when suddenly, Allen's image like rain after a very long dry season flashed through her mind. In place of Majid, she saw Allen kneeling passionately before her. When she was aroused from her reverie by Majid's pleas, she felt disappointed seeing that it was Majid who was actually proposing. She politely told him she could not accept his proposal of marriage. She told him there and then that she was in love with another man. How could Majid hold back the pain on hearing this from his dear Lina, a woman he loved with all his heart. "So this lady's heart has never been with me but with someone else! Well, such is life," He thought. What could he do, he had to accept it in good fate. He politely wished her a happy life with the man she loved. With that, he walked to his car and drove away. If Lina was remorseful about Majid's leaving, she did not show it, she was not in the least worried that the young, handsome, wealthy, loving, caring and God-fearing Majid had left, what worried her was how to get Allen to become her own. When Lina ate, it was Allen, when she talked, it was Allen, when she sang, it was Allen. According to her, she did everything for and because of Allen. She ate, bathed, studied, prayed, adorned herself, worked, bought new clothes and shoes and made her hair because of him. She smiled because of him, her love for him was real, stable and mature, she was not pretending, if only Allen would give her a chance, she would love him unconditionally, treat him like a king, respect and cherish him and make him her number one.
There, Lina was dying for Allen who seemed to care less about her, who did not even seem to think of her especially at this point that she was away from him. She was there turning down marriage proposals from eligible young men stating that she already had someone she loved whose name was Allen. Her best friend Kate spoke to her over the phone, pleaded with her to accept a proposal and get married and forget about the "invisible" Allen. "Allen is not interested in any woman for now," Kate told Lina.
But Lina was not ready to hear that.
"If he is not interested in any woman, he should be interested in me; in fact, he must be interested in me." "You must be a joker, a dreamer," Kate said. "Kate, you won't understand, this is a matter of the heart."
"I don't want to understand anything young lady, you should even be happy that men are proposing to you, many women are looking for this kind of privilege that you are now wasting, you better think twice," she said angrily and ended the call.
"Hmmm," she sighed. "How will I explain this for someone to understand me? Well, that's their business, Allen must be mine. He must look towards my direction. We must walk down the aisle together whether the devil likes it or not. No one wants to understand me, they all thought am crazy. Have they ever loved someone so much that it makes them cry, I guess they haven't. I desire nothing in this world other than Allen. He is everything I ever wanted and needed in my life. Please Allen, come to me, make me your wife, make me your one and only, I love you with all my heart." She soliloquied while sobbing bitterly. Just then, her phone rang, looking at the screen, it was her boss calling, she stared at it for several seconds before picking it up angrily.
