EPISODE FOURTEEN
On arrival after some days, Allen's family members came out to welcome them in great joy and when they saw Jonas, their joy was doubled and they thanked Lina for what she had done. It had been a hectic journey so the trio could not say anything about the journey. Lina was asked to spend the night there since she was totally exhausted, also it was already late at night. Lina was happy because she thought she would be asked to sleep in Allen's room, unfortunately for her, Allen's parents asked her to sleep in Allen's sister's room. While she laid in bed, a lot of thoughts crossed her mind.
"What if I go quietly to Allen's room now and seduce him and tell him how much I love him, how will he feel? No, I can't bring myself to do that!" She cautioned herself. She just fell into a troubled sleep and had so many dreams which were not very vivid but they were all about Allen. When it was dawn, the whole family including Lina converged in the seating room to offer their morning devotion and thanksgiving to God. After the devotion, Lina left for her home.
Lina went home feeling somewhat satisfied. "At least, Allen will now like me because it is my suggestion that has restored his brother's health," she thought. "I must get this Allen," she said aloud and then went on to do the household chores.
Lina's heart felt a bit lighter and she sang and danced while working. Few hours later, she was through with the chores and every other thing. She put a call through to Kate informing her that she was back. Kate promised to come shortly. Lina laid on the couch dosing off when a knock landed on the door. She jumped up quickly and made for the door. She unbolted it and ushered Kate in. "Miss Allen Francis," Kate teased.
Lina was very excited at Kate's words and she felt like reaching for the moon. Smiling broadly, she spoke with all happiness.
"Please stop teasing me Kate."
"Am not teasing you o, I hope he must have proposed already."
Lina's countenance fell and Kate being very sensitive to her friend's expressions quickly noticed. "Talk to me, what is the matter?" Kate asked. "Nothing," Lina answered. "So why that look?" Kate continued.
"What look? Nothing really."
"Ok if you say so."
A moment of silence ensued and Kate was trying to guess what was running in her friend's mind. Lina on the other hand was trying as much as possible not to show how hurt she was knowing that Allen was not yet hers. Lina broke the silence.
"Sorry, pardon my manners, what do I offer you? Mmmm... Erm... Pardon me once more, I have yam porridge in the kitchen, let me get some for you. "Ok ma," Kate said. "I was actually wondering if you weren't going to offer me anything after calling me to come over.
Lina who was already walking to the kitchen stopped half-way and spoke.
"Hey, I didn't ask you to come over, I only told you that I am back from my trip and you decided to come over probably because you thought I brought some eatable things."
"Oh ok, sorry, I have to take my leave now," Kate threatened standing up. "Ah ah! Sorry na...." "Noooo... You didn't invite me, so I am not welcomed,"
Kate said.
"My love please na... You are highly welcome." After much persuasion from Lina, Kate sat back. In few minutes, yam porridge was served. And they ate silently for a while before Kate spoke.
"Ain't you going to tell me about your journey?"
"Where did you keep your table manners?" Lina asked teasingly.
"At Allen's place," Kate teased the more.
"Then go back to his place and get it and please let me eat in peace. I will tell you all about the journey when I am relaxed ok... "
