TWISTED FATE..

EPISODE SIXTEEN "Lina my dear, it is difficult to find a lady like you these days. A lady who will work painstakingly to see to it that an I'll person regains his health. You stood by me as at the time I was in a critical condition, a thing that my own wife could not do. Lina, I can now say there is no better wife for me. Lina, please I want to ask you for a favour." Lina sensing what was coming up, raised her head and looked straight at his face for the first time since he came into her house. Their eyes met and she quickly put down her head feeling a little embarrassed and at the same time having a strange feeling about Jonas. "Go on," she said a little bit nervous. He continued. "Lina, will you marry me?" The question sounded like a thunder in Lina's ears. Her heart sank. "How could fate be this cruel? How could, is this how I am fated, to love someone but marry another? Oh fate! Is this how I am trapped in such TWISTED FATE?" she pondered. There she was, dying for Allen; wishing the words were coming out of Allen's mouth, but behold it was Allen's elder brother who was saying it. Undoubtedly, Jonas was handsome, rich hardworking and above all God-fearing and she liked him very much but not to the extent of wanting to get married to him. Allen was the one she ever wanted. "What a Twist of Fate!" She thought. After a moment of another uncomfortable silence, Lina spoke. "Thank you very much sir for this wonderful proposal but I cannot accept it because you are still married to your wife." That was definitely not the only reason she was refusing Jonas' proposal but also because she strongly believed that Allen would propose to her. On hearing what Lina said, Jonas felt bad. He told her that he was not going to force her and that he would not take 'no' for an answer either. With that, he begged to take his leave. Jonas on one hand laid in his bed and replayed in him memory the conversation between Lina and himself. Yes, he was still married to Margaret, what was he supposed to do? The only way was to file for an annulment of the marriage between them. Lina on the other hand could not help ruminating over Jonas' proposal. Her heart was so full of thoughts that she could not explain. After thinking for several hours, she decided that she needed to see Allen. She picked her phone, called him and asked him to meet her at her place. In a moment, Allen was at Lina's. They sat down at the seating room and chatted for a while before Lina made known the reason she had asked him to come over to her place. "Allen," she called out. "Yes Lina," he answered. "Your brother, Mr. Jonas wants me to marry him." "Hmmm," Allen gave a deep sigh not knowing exactly what to say. "Lina," he started after a moment of silence. "If you ask me, there is no better wife for my brother." Deep inside of him, he was hurt because he had come to love Lina very much, a thing which he had not told her before his brother's proposal to her. "Please I beg you to accept my brother's proposal, this way, you will restore the happiness he lost to his 'runaway' wife, please...," Allen said with tears in his heart. Lina was heartbroken, how could Allen tell her such a thing. She thought he would tell her not to accept his brother's proposal and propose to her instead but no, she was wrong. "Lina I hope you will not disappoint me and my family by refusing to accept... " He was interrupted by a knock on the door. Lina went to the door to see who it was, behold it was Allen's parents. They had come to appeal to her to marry their son Jonas. Lina, seeing that Allen's parents were seriously pleading with her, was left with no choice than to accept Jonas' proposal. "After all, I will still be close to Allen since I will become part of his family. Allen in his own part does not even love me so it is only wise to accept his brother's proposal so that I will not be at the loosing end. Moreover, age is no longer on my side. I am in my late twenties now, if I keep rejecting suitors because of Allen, I don't know what will become of me in terms of marriage. Even, I like Jonas so what's more. She pondered. The next morning, Jonas was at Lina's to ask her again if she would marry him. "Lina, I am here to know what you have decided concerning what I asked yesterday." After some minutes of pondering on Lina's side, she spoke. "Please sir, I still need a little time to think this through. As you well know, marriage is not something one should jump into like that. One needs physical, emotional and of course spiritual preparations before going into it. I hope you will understand Sir." Jonas was silent for a long time. He kept staring at Lina so deeply. Lina was indeed uncomfortable with that and she kept wondering if he didn't hear what she had said. Summoning courage, she attempted to speak. "Sir..." She was interrupted by a knock on the door. Feeling grateful for whoever it was that had paid a visit, she stood up to check who it was. Kate was the one standing at the door when she opened it. "Oh Kate, it's you, come in."
